Financial Controller - Private Equity Real Estate. OUR CLIENT is a global Real Estate investment business, with a proven track-record of delivering risk-adjusted returns across various asset classes. They have instructed us to help them seek an experienced Financial Controller to join their Property Finance / Funds Team.

THE ROLE: You will be responsible for delivering financial reporting for multiple entities, fully owned and some partly owned through Joint Venture structures with external investors. You will supervise a small team of inhouse accountants and several third-party service providers, in providing timely and accurate monthly financial reporting and ensuring strong financial control for several legal entities and be responsible for then producing the consolidated accounts. The responsibilities of this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing monthly consolidated management accounts including analytical review commentary.
  • Reviewing monthly financial reporting packs prepared by the financial reporting team.
  • Preparing quarterly external investor reporting packs, and acting as the main point of contact for investment and distribution transactions.
  • Managing the financial reporting team.
  • Preparing annual consolidated and single entity financial statements under IFRS.
  • Delivering all audit requests in a timely manner.
  • Managing SOX compliance and working closely with external advisors to ensure the maintenance of a strong financial control environment.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders and senior management.
  • Assisting in financial system improvement projects aimed at streamlining finance processes and further enhancing financial reporting capabilities.
THE PERSON: To apply, you MUST be ACA or ACCA qualified with between 3 and 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience. Depending on the level of salary and appointment our client is either considering those with potential to make the next step up to Controller level with the request technical skills and experience or those who are already proven managers at the top end - who will have proven people management experience and be able to demonstrate managing and motivate a team to meet deadlines. Strong knowledge of IFRS is required and US GAAP and SOX exposure would be desirable but not essential and can be trained. Consolidation experience is a MUST. Either way at both levels you will possess excellent communication skills and the confidence to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for commercially minded individuals with a background in construction or real estate to progress their careers within an established, global business.
