Head of Transport

Our client is a leading route–based logistics business. They are seeking to appoint a Head of Transport in this newly created role where you will lead the Transport agenda, and directly manage the operations in England. They are keen to identify an individual who has strong and demonstrated leadership skills with previous experience building and motivating effective teams. Experience in leading transport operations in a route–based services environment is essential. Responsibilities include: Designing and delivering the Transport agenda Managing operations for a varied workforce across multiple sites across England Delivering the safety and compliance agenda through management of regional teams Providing excellent service to customer sites across static routes and collection patterns Management of trunking between sites which will be supported by a dedicated planning team Managing driver and staff engagement initiatives for a large workforce spread across multiple sites Championing the transport cost improvement and optimisation agenda which will be supported by a dedicated process engineering team and transport planning team Driving consistency in accountability and discipline standards Designing and delivering an improvement plan in safety and induction training which will be supported by dedicated compliance and training staff Providing "thought leadership" on best practice for transport and service operationsCandidate requirements: Previous operations experience in a route–based logistics and service environment Strong and demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to lead and motivate national teams to achieve consistent performance A structured, consistent and methodical approach to problem solving Proven experience in fact–based, analytical decision making and using data to drive continuous improvement Excellent coaching, leadership and mentoring skills Ability to demonstrate delivery of improvements in areas of service, cost management and safetyIf this sounds of interest please send your CV in Word format, quoting reference 66216/32/LT/ED detailing your current remuneration package and availability.
