We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Chief Volunteering Officer to join our team based in Gilwell Park or Home based, working remotely with travel across England to lead the team. We will offer you a competitive salary of GBP65,000 per annum + car allowance and excellent benefits.

The Deputy Chief Volunteering Officer Role:
The Deputy Chief Volunteering Officer is a key part of our strategy for inclusive growth of our membership and impact, responsible for leading our 60–strong locally–based team focused growth and recruitment. Working as part of the Member Support Department s leadership team, the new Deputy Chief Volunteering Officer will work in partnership with our incredible lead volunteers in England who lead our 60 English Counties, comprising approximately 400,000 of our UK membership, to identify opportunities to drive growth.
Key responsibilities as our Deputy Chief Volunteering Officer:
– Meeting agreed targets by leading our remote teams of staff focused on recruiting volunteers and growing Scouting s membership across England in an inclusive way that enables us to provide skills for life to more young people, making best use of volunteer and staff expertise.
– Playing a leading role in the Scouts approach to volunteer recruitment and inclusive membership growth across the UK and in our overseas locations.
– Providing direct support to the Chief Commissioner for England (lead volunteer), whilst acting as the lead staff member supporting the England Leadership Team, our lead volunteers from across all 8 Regions
– Collaborating with strategic funding colleagues to secure and lead external funding for targeted volunteer recruitment and membership growth projects
– Contributing as a key member of the Chief Volunteering Officer s Leadership Team and a member of the Scouts Staff Leadership Forum
– Fostering a collaborative culture across the team, as part of the Department so that staff feel part of one UK Headquarters team and local volunteers receive an efficient, high–quality joined up service
– Providing consultancy and advice as appropriate to staff and volunteers in Northern Ireland, Scotland Wales around volunteer recruitment, induction and membership growth
– Providing reports and delivering presentations on all aspects of these accountabilities to the Executive Leadership Team, Leadership Forum, UK Leadership Team, England Leadership Team and Board Committees as required
What we are looking for in our Deputy Chief Volunteering Officer:
– Demonstrable record of achievement in a leadership role at senior management level within an organisation of comparable size, scope and complexity
– Knowledge and understanding of methods to increase engagement and meet agreed outcomes across a range of internal and external channels (e.g. telephone, email, web support, live events).
– Experience in effectively developing high–performing teams whilst instilling a strong sense of accountability and empowerment in a values–based culture
– Education, training and continual professional development relevant to the scope of responsibilities of the Deputy Chief Volunteering Officer role
– Experience in service delivery design and management in an organisation of comparable size, scope and complexity.
– Full UK driving licence
– Willing to travel extensively, including spending frequent nights away from home
