A growing sustainable deep tech start–up has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Marketing & Communications to join the team on a 1–year contract. Your will role will be to implement the in–year marketing strategy, putting your own stamp on campaigns and leading the development and oversight of all channel outputs. You must be able to demonstrate broad experience across the marketing mix, including both B2B and B2C. Experience in another science–led or tech company is essential.

This contract is offered on a part–time basis, 3–4 days a week. Hybrid work options are also available.

The Role

The company is seeking a Head of Marketing & Communications (maternity cover) to join the team, with the role of:

  • Strategic development and implementation of in–year marketing and communications strategy
  • Creating demand for the Company's products and services
  • Building a pipeline of new customers for lead products
  • Supporting Company's position as thought leaders
  • Raising awareness of partnerships with customers
  • Development and oversight of all channel output including:
    • Branding
    • Campaign development
    • Social
    • Digital
    • PR/Comms
    • Website
    • SEO
    • CRM
    • Events (conferences & speaker)
    • Awards
    • Internal Comms
  • Managing media relations
  • Agency management (PR, comms, branding and website)
  • Management of one direct report (Marketing & Communications Manager)
Candidate Experience

The company is seeking candidates with:

  • A commitment to the company's sustainability mission
  • Extensive experience in marketing and communications across both B2B and B2C (either in–house or agency)
  • As comfortable discussing big brand strategy and national comms support as they are liaising with technical experts on tech–heavy white papers and new business leads to deliver ABM campaigns.
  • Experience working with an ingredient brand, technology or in FMCG.
  • Independence and autonomy, as the marketing communications lead in a fast growing start–up
  • An interest in science and technology, and experience in communicating technology and innovation
  • The right fit for a small, science–led, innovative team
