Deputy Director, Head of Office, Operational Estate and Facilities Management

Location: Leeds or Birmingham

Salary: up to GBP85,000

The Department for Transport (DfT) is a ministerial department, supported by 24 agencies and public bodies. We plan and invest in transport infrastructure to keep the UK on the move. We have one of the largest property portfolios in Government, comprising c. 9,500 holdings across the country.

The Deputy Director, Head of Office, Operational Estate and Facilities Management, will report to the Director of Corporate Finance and Property and will lead, manage, motivate and develop the Group Property team and will oversee the re–procurement, commercial negotiation, contract mobilisation and steady state operations of the Department's total facilities management (TFM) contract for commencement in 2025. You will contribute to the corporate leadership and development of DfT as a department that is ambitious, outward facing, flexible and somewhere people want to work.This is a role that calls for a successful team leader with a solid grounding and experience in property and facilities management. Professionally qualified and accredited (RICS or equivalent) you will support and propagate best practice, with a track record of delivering successful outcomes across a diverse portfolio. You will have experience of leading large, complex public sector estate FM contract re–procurements at a commensurate scale, having led contract mobilisations and 'steady state' operations across large and geographically dispersed estates.
