Director of Policy and Strategic Partnership Location: Our office in the UK is in central Manchester, and MAG is currently promoting hybrid ways of working. Starting Salary – Circa GBP80,000 (plus contributory pension) MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co–recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti–Personnel Mine Ban Convention. We need you to help us maximise the reach, and impact, of work that ensures people are not living in the daily fear and poverty caused by landmines and unexploded bombs. We are now looking for a values–led, resilient, and experienced Director who will lead our policy and government relations function as well as the development and delivery of MAG's organisational strategy jointly with our Global Leadership Team, which is committed to meeting the changing needs of communities affected by conflict and insecurity well into the future. Together we can bring safety to the 60 million people still living in fear. As the Director of Policy and Strategic Partnerships, you will be a key member of the Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic leadership and oversight of the organisation. The role has been created given the critical importance MAG's policy and government relations work and is an exciting opportunity to directly influence and shape organisational practice and strategy. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead MAG's work to influence widespread positive change in public policy, public perceptions and actions by key decision makers in fulfilment of MAG's mission. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, integrity, and vision. You will also have experience operating at senior level in the humanitarian or development sector, preferably within the humanitarian disarmament sector. You will also have an innate understanding of how to use advocacy, lobbying strategy and public campaigning to drive change. Essential to success in the role will be your ability to build strong relationships across a diverse and international stakeholder map, alongside a clear passion and commitment to MAG's mission.
