A leading multi–national electronics defence business are currently recruiting for an Operations (Production) & Supply Chain Director based in either Greenford OR Maidenhead on a full–time permanent basis.
The Operations (Production) & Supply Chain Director will be responsible for the overall responsibility to lead the operational functions for dedicated business unit across the group covering Production, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Planning & Compliance ensuring the production, delivery and services requirements are met in a timely, cost effective and compliance manner in line with budget and strategic plans.
Team management of 5 direct reports including – Head of Manufacturing, Head of Quality, Head of Logistics, Head of Supply Chain and Head of Security & Compliance covering a total headcount of approximately 30 people across the Operations function.

Key roles and responsibilities for Operations (Production) & Supply Chain Director role and will not be limited to:
- Leads and responsible for planning the business resources across the business unit
- Support business unit in program forecasting and daily production commitments to revenue and budget planning
- Responsible for implementation of Continuous improvement initiatives
- Chair Supply Chain review and maintain supplier risk and opportunity reviews and registers (Engages in risk management and manages the key stakeholders)
- Chair Inventory Meeting and ensure the business has the correct levels of inventory to support OTIF of 98% and internal financial cash and working capital requirements.
- Responsible for maintaining the correct level of security and quality standards at the sites in order to deliver the strategic plan
- Ensure continuous improvement and aligning organizational processes creating a team–focused environment where all collaborate and execute successfully
- Maintain high OTD and Quality standards >98%
- Provide leadership at all levels of the organization
- Reviews all bids, estimates and proposals for new projects
- Evaluate employee performance and provide additional coaching and support as needed
- Assess departmental and company performance and devise plans for improvement
- To lead the operational functions to ensure that customer requirements are met and that the services are delivered in an efficient, safe and compliant manner
- Establish strong relationships with key suppliers and partners to ensure the operating business unit is strongly positioned to achieve cost effective procurement to required quality standards.
- Provide effective mentoring and coaching to the department heads to enable them to achieve their objectives.
- Participate actively and collaboratively in bid preparation to ensure that operational impact taken into account.
- Produce KPIs and other metrics to ensure that operational performance is measured accurately
- Driving continuous improvements to ensure that operational cost are minimised
Key skills and experience required for Operations (Production) & Supply Chain Director job applicant and not limited to:
- Previous experience within a leadership role, ideally within manufacturing and/or electronics environment – Manufacturing, Production, Quality OR Supply Chain
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Team management experience, very much open to a Manager/Head of looking to take a step up into a Director role
- Must be eligible to gain UK Security Clearance
