Director of Lifelong Learning and Employability
Birmingham City Council, Children and Families
GBP105,534 – GBP158,301 p/a
This year's Commonwealth Games showed the world what many already know – Birmingham is a vibrant, courageous, and resilient city, proud of its heritage and excited about its future. Our colleagues, our partners and our communities are all realising the benefits of collaboration and service, and our City Council has bold plans to become brilliant.
Significant financial investment alongside talented leadership across the Council and our partners is bringing tangible improvement in our services to children and an unstoppable momentum. Our children and families departmental leadership team is moving at pace, and we have created two new posts that will significantly increase our ability to make a difference to Birmingham's children and young people. This is your opportunity to help us to continue to develop strong relationships of trust and confidence across our City. Relationships which tap into and build upon Birmingham's amazing community spirit. For both roles we are looking for confident, experienced leaders who can inspire, collaborate and deliver with empathy and resilience.
This role focuses on the high–profile strategic agendas of our City relating to skills and employment, and the transformation of libraries in line with the Council's early help strategy. It brings together all of the teams that work directly with schools, colleges, post 16 training providers and Birmingham's universities in a partnership that ensures our young people can access the education and employment pathways that enable them to thrive. It's an opportunity for someone who can develop new ways of working, while creating strong partnerships that focus on some of the most complex, long term challenges facing our City.
