This is a hands on systems engineering role incorporating physical installation and integration, test and trails work. You will travel to customer sites and spend time on customer platforms including at sea in ships and submarines.

Key Accountabilities / Deliverables

  • Defining, developing, testing, maintaining and replacing systems.
  • Initial capture and management of the system/subsystem requirements
  • Development of system / sub–system architectures
  • Preparation of specifications and Interface Control Documents
  • Preparation of test and acceptance plans and procedures
  • Support integration and trials of equipment and systems into platforms
  • Contributing to Safety and Airworthiness Certification of products
  • Liaison with customers, equipment suppliers & subcontractors associated with a programme.
  • Briefing stakeholders on design progress, technical approach and issues.
  • Providing technical consultancy internally and externally to the business and authoring briefing notes and technical reports.
  • Work with QA to ensure products are tested effectively, including supplied products pre–sale.
  • Conduct training courses on their specific product specialities and manage their assigned long–term service support projects.
  • Work with the Design Office to assist in ensuring that products can be constructed to meet customer and company standards
  • To provide advice on sound and efficient engineering techniques and practices.
  • Prototype assembly, inspection, test and evaluation activities.
  • Provide recommendations on design changes to improve prototypes and products.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

The job holder requires:

  • A suitable engineering qualification and/or equivalent relevant experience in a systems engineering role.
  • Technical understanding of systems engineering theory and its practical application, specifically around integrationO, test and trials.
  • Broad based knowledge of, and at least five years' experience working within industry, preferably defence.
  • Full UK driving license is required.

Additional Information/Notes:

  • The role will require that the successful candidate has to obtain an UK Developed Vetting Security Clearance (DV).
  • The role will also require the successful candidate to be in good physical health and to pass a semi–arduous swimming assessment.
