Our client are operating at the cutting edge of clean energy, supporting a low carbon future. They are on a mission to establish build and develop the solution, borne out of biomass technology, evolving to the next level to incorporate carbon capture technology.
This is an extremely exciting venture, which will play a key role in the UKs future energy needs using innovative negative emissions technology which has a positive effect on the environment.
As part of our client s growth plans they want to recruit for a Head of Alternative Fuels & Cost Reduction.
Purpose:
To create supply solutions to enable us to realise the company s stated aim of being global leader in negative emissions and identify innovation opportunities to deliver cost reduction goals.
• Originate, develop and scaleup new supply source, that could supply biomass projects at scale
• To include Energy Crops, agricultural residues and End of Waste
• Lead the UK Biomass workstream, which is a key requirement to deliver a significant scaleup in UK energy crops production
• Apply learning to international scaleup strategy for energy crops for long–term supply
• Work closely with Head of Biomass Strategy to ensure Alternative Fuels strategy aligned with and supports material strategy
• Work with local stakeholders: government, farmers, industry bodies, universities, NGOs understand issues and drivers to ensure world class sustainability standards and other drivers taken into account
• Work with External Comms team to ensure consistent aligned message and engagement with government, state and federal bodies
• Test and trial fuels for technical suitability including chemistry and handling
• Work with Head of Biofuels and International Development to ensure fuels meet project specifications
• Develop supply chain schemes from field to project, including logistics, material handling, processing requirements.
• Working with Head of Biomass Commercial, mature commercial alignment with critical third–parties up to, and subsequently manage, MoU / HoTs level for long term deals (e.g., strategic partnerships, etc.)
• Develop JV partnerships in new geographies to invest/secure materials
• Ensure projects are workable once handed over to Development, H2 and H1
• Work with Head of Supply Chain Development to secure the material or individual sites leveraging strategic relationships / agreements
• Work closely with commercial leads in T&S and carbon credit functions to ensure carbon value is captured
• Responsible for the commercialisation of projects that deliver cost benefits to the Group.

• Responsible for oversight of Cost Reduction Innovation Commercialisation.
• 3 managers direct reports (CLs 3–4) & 2 Analysts (CL5)
• Budget responsibilities of GBP5–10m
• Managing multiple commercial projects of GBP50–200m
• Interaction with/updates to ExCom & Board•
Key Accountabilities:
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
Experience in development of energy crops and agri schemes in other bioenergy industries
Experience in developing new supply chains (logistics, handling, processing equipment)
Experience in delivering major commercial offtake/purchase agreements
