Rolls–Royce SMR, the UK s domestic nuclear energy champion, and is looking to recruit a Engineering Project Manager who will provide project management to one or more work packages from Rolls Royce SMR engineering programme scope.

The Company

Rolls–Royce SMR is a start–up special purpose vehicle (SPV) business, specifically created to design, construct and deliver a new fleet of Small Modular Reactor power plants that will be a critical and strategic player in the race to Net Zero carbon emissions globally. Spun out of Rolls–Royce with its pedigree in engineering excellence but also attracting world class inward investment this is an exciting new business with an optimistic opportunity to be a global player in the coming years.


The Post

This role, reporting to an Engineering Programme Manager, will provide project management to one or more Work Packages from the Rolls–Royce SMR Engineering Programme scope. This role will work to ensure successful delivery of the Work Pack(s) to time, cost and quality.


Key Responsibilities
Providing project management support to the execution of their allocated Work Package(s) and tracking progress compared with the performance measurement baseline.
Creating and maintaining the required project documentation for their allocated Work Package(s).
Controlling the budget for their allocated Work Package(s) and managing expenditure within agreed spending plans.
Producing project reporting for their allocated Work Package(s) against agreed KPIs, including earned value and variance analysis.
Interpreting project performance data to develop and implement measures to improve delivery performance in their allocated Work Package(s).
Ensure appropriate management of risk within their allocated Work Package(s).
Provide support to the implementation of change management within their allocated Work Package(s).
Monitoring and co–ordinating dependencies relevant to their allocated Work Package(s) across the Engineering Programme and resolving conflicts.
Liaising with the Supply Chain and Safety and Regulatory Affairs functions to co–ordinate dependencies with their allocated Work Package(s) and resolving conflicts.
Actively contribute to the development and execution of project management good practice within the business.
Ensuring that the vision, mission, and values of the company are upheld and become part of the culture of the business.

Qualifications & Experience
Degree qualified in an engineering discipline
Project Management experience in planning, controlling budgets and driving to schedules, within a technical environment
Engineering and technical competence, sufficient to enable decision making
Understanding of non–core project management roles such as purchasing, commercial, engineering management etc.
Well organised, systematic and rigorous approach to planning work and priorities
Excellent inter–personal skills
Ability to simplify and communicate complex topics

Travel: Contracted location of work is in Derby or Warrington although we operate a hybrid working policy allowing you to work remotely with the agreement of your leader, though may require some travel within the working day when visiting other branches or organisations.

Working hours: 37.5 hrs per week are standard office hours with some overtime as required.
