Working as part of the contract engineering team on both technical and commercial aspects of projects on a wide range of products and systems. From receipt of order, the Project Manager becomes the point of contact for the customer, reviewing the job specification, designing the required solution, overseeing the project's build and test and liaising with the customer throughout.

Team structure & culture
Reporting to Contract Manager the team includes Project & Test Engineers, Documentation Control, Project Coordinators, CAD Team and administration support.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

  • Following a standard process, as defined by a professional project management organisation
  • Initiating the project, checking feasibility and work out budgets, teams, and resources
  • Providing cost–effective solutions to clients
  • Maintaining margin on projects
  • Meeting project deadlines
  • Liaising with Development department to meet any job–specific design requirements
  • Liaising with Production department regarding system build
  • Liaising with Site Services to brief commissioning engineers
  • Working on a number of projects at any given time, requiring good organisational and communication skills
  • Managing the project, which includes coordinating the project team to keep them on track and keeping the project on budget
  • Carrying out monitoring and control activities to track the progress of the project
  • Identifying and managing risks to ensure delivery is on time
  • Implementing necessary changes throughout the process
  • Reporting regularly to management and the client
  • Closing the project – this includes evaluating successes and challenges to enhance learning for your next project.
  • Planning and overseeing the execution of work


ESSENTIAL:

  • Proven experience in managing commercial projects in engineering environment
  • Commercial knowledge to review contract terms
  • Ability to liaise with clients, both in the UK and overseas
  • Ability to plan in accordance with the needs of your client, including setting goals and objectives, defining roles and producing schedules and timelines for tasks.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Project for project planning
  • Ability to work to cost limitations to ensure
  • Excellent organisation skills, to plan the use of people and resources to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, to motivate and lead your project team
  • Good communication and negotiation skills, to manage expectations
  • The ability to use your initiative and make decisions under pressure
  • Competent written communications to produce manuals, test schedules, quality procedures, etc.
  • Ability to leading and motivating project team from both internal and external stakeholder organisations

DESIRABLE:

  • Hands–on experience of electronics design & test
  • Experience of audio electronics equipment
  • Electronics engineering (minimum HNC level)
