Our client, the National Oceanography Centre (NOC), is the UK's centre of excellence for oceanographic sciences – a national research organisation, delivering integrated marine science and technology from the coast to the deep ocean. NOC is a leader in climate change science and hosts a dynamic and vibrant community whose focus is on improving the world in which we live.

About the role

The NOC aims to develop their Built Environment Strategy to provide the anchor for transformation for the Estate to become more flexible, digital and adaptable – to achieve the long–term vision.

With an impressive estate operating from two principal locations in Southampton and Liverpool, the buildings are integral in providing access to laboratories, workshops, two research ships as well as teaching and shared collaborative spaces.

During this period of change, the Head of Estates will also ensure that the day to day estates operations continue to be delivered safely and to a high standard through a team of 5 service/ compliance managers.

About you

We are looking for an exceptional estates' expert with proven leadership skills and experience of delivering of estates' transformation programmes. Working at a senior level, you will engage widely with staff and stakeholders to identify and enable estates transformation ambitions and to understand and plan for the future needs of the organisation. Therefore, you must have proven experience of managing change in a complex organisation.

You will also have a strong track record of positive, collaborative leadership and of creating and sustaining a high performing team. Development and empowerment of teams is at the forefront of the organisation's culture.

On offer, a salary of GBP55k to GBP64.5k with generous set of benefits including 28 days annual leave, plus 3.5 local closure days and 8/9 public bank holidays, and a contributory Group Personal Pension Plan. A relocation grant can be made available if necessary.
