To provide strategic leadership and direction to the staff and students of our clients Training Academy ensuring continuous quality improvement is upheld in each of the programmes of training. The post requires excellent knowledge and experience of working within the post–16 education sector. The is responsible for ensuring good and safe practice, policy development, (writing and reviewing), self–assessment report (SAR), quality improvement plan (QIP), curriculum planning, PAYE and freelance staff contracts, being the nominee for all inspections and audit, as well as leading, mentoring and developing a diverse team of staff and students. Upholding staff CPD and regular
staff 1–1 s and appraisals, ensuring a robust student support service functions within the organisation to enable and to facilitate the delivery of high–quality education and training across all areas of the curriculum. To assist the Governance Board: in securing the highest possible educational standards for students and in creating an atmosphere in which staff have high expectations of students. Communicating and working with Business Development and Data Analysis manager, MIS Data officer, Finance Director, Programme Managers and ESFA. Areas of business include budgeting and forecasting for student intake, achievement and progression, overall development of the training business and securing financial contracts with direct government contracts and other stakeholders.
Main duties and responsibilities:

- Responsible for curriculum development through collaborative working with Programme Managers and Heads of Department.
- Leadership and Management of the training academy staff and students across all departments.
- Setting an example of high–quality performance in standards, outcome and leadership.
- To lead and co–ordinate activities to meet the requirements of any external assessment or inspection process imposed upon the training academy, acting as the nominee for Ofsted and Matrix inspections.
- To establish, maintain and develop effective relationships with external agencies and other stakeholders.
- To be responsible for ensuring the training academy maintains its validation status with
- relevant awarding organisations, for example, VTCT, UAL, Active IQ, stakeholders and FE partners.
- To undertake other duties as may reasonably be requested by the Governance Board.
- Oversight and management of professional development of all staff within the training academy.
- Recruitment and induction of new members of staff, ensuring safer recruitment and appropriate validation checks are upheld.
- Development and oversight of mentoring programmes including continued mentoring for staff enrolled on the L5 DET Teaching apprenticeship.
- Aligning training academy development plan aims with individual programme managers and heads of department.
- Manage individual staff 1–1 s, performance reviews/appraisals.
- Organise the delivery of mandatory meetings, including Governance, SMT, Safeguarding and Prevent, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Curriculum planning/self–assessment, Strategic Planning Group and faculty/departmental meetings.
- Liaising with Programme Managers in devising and managing the delivery of a weekly tutorial programme.

Qualifications:
- Recognised Teaching Qualification (Essential)
- PGCE (Learning and Teaching in Post–16 Education) (Desirable)
- Leadership Experience/Knowledge:
- Recent experience of working successfully as a senior leader in education (Essential)
- Experience of writing and turning policies into effective and successful practice (Essential)
- Leadership of a significant area or phase or inclusion (Essential)
- Up to date knowledge of statutory regulations and guidance relating to the post (Essential)
General Skills:
- Knowledge of ESFA and SLC funding (essential)
- The ability to develop and deliver effective and inspirational professional development for staff (including mentoring and coaching as appropriate) (Essential)
- The ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of different audiences (Essential)
- The ability to demonstrate high quality teaching strategies (Essential)
- The ability to support, motivate and inspire both colleagues and students by leading through example (Essential)
