The Role

As the HR Business Partner you will deliver a customer focussed effective and efficient HR support to employees and managers ensuring compliance with employment legislation and VolkerWessels UK Policies.

You will provide a quality HR Business Partnering service to the VolkerFitzpatrick business through providing day to day tactical advice and support on HR matters.

This role will support the Head of HR as well as the wider HR team to deliver business related projects and strategic HR Transformation projects and other business related projects across the Business Units.

Key Accountabilities

  • Engage with all levels of the workforce to ensure harmonious employee relations, taking appropriate formal or informal steps to resolve conflicts and disputes. Ensure all appropriate policies and procedures are followed.
  • Provide robust support in the delivery of all HR matters including absence, long term sickness, disciplinary, grievance and capability processes to ensure the maintenance of company standards in terms of conduct, process compliance and performance.
  • Maintain accurate and easily retrievable records for all HR related cases.
  • Effectively support and coach the management team in the effective use of performance tools and processes, ensuring that the principles are applied consistently and fairly to deliver outcomes that drive performance and deliver business objectives and to resolve any concerns.
  • Assist in succession and talent planning as appropriate. Liaising with Learning and Development experts in business as appropriate.
  • Ensuring HR best practice is embedded in the business by collaborating with the Shared Service administration team to ensure consistency and accuracy of delivery.
  • To advise management on key organisational structure and role issues to ensure that the optimum structure for the business is embedded and any legal impacts and risks are managed appropriately.
  • Be able to assist in discussions around specific reward needs for the business and work with the management team to implement business focused and cost effective reward solutions.
  • To build constructive relationships with Payroll, Learning and Development and Resourcing teams to ensure the development needs of the business are met and ensure that compliance requirements are achieved.
  • To support the Senior HR Manager on in business HR projects as well as projects across the wider VolkerWessels business.
  • Work collaboratively with the central administration resource to ensure the accuracy of documentation and records are not compromised.
  • Work proactively with the management team to manage key people risks in the business and taking positive steps to resolve before these before they become problems for the business

  • To collect and interrogate people data in order to identify organisational issues and opportunities
  • To be aware of the impact TUPE has on the business and terms and conditions of employment of the employees

Skills & Experience

  • Up to date knowledge of employment law and best practice HR policy and practice
  • Resourcing and workforce planning
  • Project management
  • Experience of data analysis and reporting
  • Good IT knowledge and understanding including intermediate or advance excel
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Mid to Senior level experience as an HR practitioner
  • Proven track record of handling a range of complex employee relations issues and casework
