Amplify your impact

At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as the Head of Maritime Electronic Warfare at our Devonport site.

As an international defence company, we support and enhance our customers' defence and security capabilities and critical assets, meeting their requirements of value for money, increased availability, modernisation and flexibility.

Mission Systems

The Head of Maritime Electronic Warfare (MEW) role is based within our Mission Systems business area.

Maritime Electronic Warfare is a critical component of Babcock Mission Systems' portfolio of capabilities that deliver on our purpose to create a safe and secure world, together.

The role

The difference our new Head of Maritime Electronic Warfare will make

As the Head of Maritime Electronic Warfare you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will be an impactful leader and communicator, with a good understanding of complex programme delivery and ideally strong domain knowledge in MEW or a related technical subject area. From day one you will make a positive contribution, accountable for the delivery of a major MEW–focussed programme.

Day to day, you'll develop and grow this exciting area of our business. Reporting directly to the Capability Area Director, you'll be accountable for achieving contract outcomes and executing new business campaigns within the MEW portfolio. This is a great opportunity for a motivated and passionate business leader, with sound understanding of complex programme delivery, to develop and grow this exciting area of our business.

We offer flexible working to give people more options to better integrate their work and personal life, whilst ensuring that business needs are met. This role provides hybrid working arrangements with 1–2 days in the office/onsite and 3–4 days working from home.

Essential experience
Strategic and critical thinking will come naturally to you, as will your ability to collaborate and inspire actions around a clear vision and purpose. As a 'thought leader' you will leverage your own expertise and the deep technical knowledge of those around you to translate strategy into action.
Able to demonstrate your ability in an EW–focussed role, you will be capable of understanding the operating and delivery environment from both supplier and customer sides; confident in your ability to manage risks and pursue opportunities.
As a key member of the business leadership team you will have full accountability for the programme budgets, planning activities (development and execution), achieving delivery milestones and exceeding our growth targets in the MEW space. This will require you to achieve balance between the delivery of contracts and the pursuit of growth.
