A local advice and advocacy charity serving the communities of Sandwell & Walsall seeks an empathetic, innovative and strategic Chief Executive to lead this vital local charity through a period of significant change and growth in a complex operating environment of rising demand and fluctuating funding.

The charity serve some of the most deprived communities in the country, providing advice services that are free, independent, impartial and confidential. We are part of our communities, with a physical presence in every town across the two boroughs through our offices and innovative mobile units, as well as providing remote access to our services. We also use our frontline view of the challenges our clients are facing to gather data, create research and influence policy locally and nationally to strengthen communities to improve lives.

The past few years have seen significant change and development at the charity, as we responded to the pandemic and the ongoing cost of living crisis. Under the leadership of our next Chief Executive, we will continue to adapt, improve innovate and grow to provide the highest quality of service to the increasing numbers of people who need our services.

Salary GBP61,250 – GBP66,250
Contract Permanent, full time
Location Sandwell & Walsall, with flexible working

As well as a demonstrable commitment to our vision, mission and values, the successful candidate will have:

  • Significant experience of leading and managing an organisation(s).
  • Experience in leading change management.
  • Strong understanding, gained through experience, of good governance and how to deliver it.
  • Excellent managerial and financial skills and the ability to take leadership over any business operations area.
  • Proven track record of securing funding in a tough financial climate.
  • Strong understanding of detailed charity finance, with budget management experience.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to enthuse, motivate and develop teams to deliver results.
  • Ability to think strategically and to communicate the strategic vision.
  • Excellent all round communication skills and relationship management abilities.
  • Understanding of the Charity, voluntary and community sector in the UK and the issues it faces.
  • Personal drive, energy, integrity, adaptability and responsibility.
