Role: Head of Technical Services
Location: Leeds

The Head of Technical Services will be responsible for leading the JSP 375 Vol 3 SSOW Function in providing professional SSOW leadership, advice and guidance to all levels of staff. This role will provide the Line Management Function for approximately 18 Authorising Engineers with functional responsibility across other areas such as Gas Safety.
Key Accountabilities:
- Act as the lead for JSP 375 Volume 3 across all Contracts
- Ensure that the company meets its requirements for AE Audit Reports, ensuring that these are submitted to DIO in line with the programme and KPI requirements.
- Set the strategic direction for the delivery of all JSP 375 Vol related matters.
- Review and develop all aspects of policy and procedure for the delivery of JSP 375 Vol 3
- Act as the conduit to share best practice across all AE and AP communities throughout
- Ensure that AE Support is provided across the portfolio of activity including Billable Works
- Manage and coordinate the delivery of Professional Inspections and similar
- Development and delivery of specialist training (in house)
- Potential to actively undertake an AE Role across the contracts
- Work closely with the Head of SHEF to ensure compliance requirements are being controlled, documented and maintained in accordance with regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure that rigorous risk assessment and incident management systems are in place and followed across the organisation.
- Work with DIO to support the development of the SSOW
- Oversee and undertake audits where appropriate and ensure an action plan with SMART objectives is established to address issues identified.
- Potential to undertake the CAE Role
What skills you'll need to do the role:
Essential
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Health and Safety in FM
- Demonstrable knowledge of current and relevant legislation
- Demonstrable knowledge of JSP 375 Vol 3 and MOD Safe Systems of Work
- Knowledge and appreciation of Safety Management Systems
- Demonstrate good presentation skills
- Good communication skills and demonstrates building of relationships with client
- Data Analysis, Report Writing
- Builds and maintains excellent relationships
- A good level of skill in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Full Driving Licence
- Willingness to travel extensively across all contract areas as required

Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience in SSOW or associated discipline
- Member of an appropriate professional institute at IEng or equivalent to enable the incumbent to achieve an AE Licence
