The Chief Engineer reports to and works closely with the Country Lead for the Capability Business Unit (CBU) as part of the management team for the CBU. The role is varied and interesting and requires a candidate with a breadth of experience in the safety critical & mission critical embedded systems engineering world. You will be leading a cross–functional team of Technical Experts, working across disciplines (Systems Engineering, Hardware, Software and Safety) and industries (including Aerospace, Space, Marine, Defence, Automotive and Rail), with projects for world leading clients.

  • The Chief Engineer's team is responsible for technical governance of a varied portfolio of projects within the department; supporting project delivery through problem–solving and design of bespoke solutions; and ensuring right first time delivery to clients.
  • Working alongside Unit Delivery Leads for each discipline encompassed by the department, you will facilitate skills and talent development and retention, through building resources, deploying know–how and orchestrating training sessions
  • The Chief Engineer also helps to maintain and develop technical expertise, by participating in the definition of QA processes and promoting innovation.
  • The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the business development process by providing technical support to the sales team (where needed), working with CBU teams in other countries to develop cross–border solutions and having technical oversight of bids and proposals for new work.
  • You will be an experienced engineer in at least one of the disciplines covered by the CBU, with some knowledge and understanding of the others and the ability to pick up and retain new information.
  • You will have an enquiring mind and an interest in emerging technologies across the EES field.
  • Experience in the application of regulatory standards in various fields (e.g. ARP4754, ARP4761, DO–178B/C, DO–254, EN50128, ISO26262, ISO61508, etc.). An attention to detail is vital.
  • You must also be able to develop relationships with a wide range of individuals in different areas of the business to provide support across many fields.
  • Strong verbal/written English skills.
  • A team player, working in a multidisciplinary team and able to demonstrate strong organizational and managerial skills.
