RWE has the ambition to become a global leader in floating wind and is already building a large portfolio of projects. The day–to–day responsibility for developing these projects sits with our regional teams but there are many critical issues that are best addressed at a cross–portfolio level.
The Senior Business Development Manager (Floating) will sit within the central Floating Development team and will develop and deliver a global programme of initiatives to ensure RWE is best–placed to delivery cost competitive, commercial–scale floating projects around the world.
RWE's Floating Development Team is an experienced and focused team that has already made significant progress in building internal capability and knowledge, and in ensuring that floating wind is a recognised strategic priority for the company. As a result of this work, it now hosts a world–class floating knowledge and expertise hub.
The role will provide the opportunity to connect with all our global floating teams and involve the related global travel.
As Senior Business Development Manager (Floating) you will:
- Manage the development, and be responsible for the delivery, of a programme of cross–portfolio, cross–discipline initiatives to ensure the competitiveness and deliverability of RWE's floating wind projects. This will include identifying and resolving delivery bottlenecks throughout the project lifecycle, and improving cost models and identifying cost reduction measures
- Engage with project teams around the world to identify new cross–portfolio issues and work with the central Floating Team and experts as well as leadership across all involved functions to come up with effective solutions. Where necessary, support regional teams to secure new project opportunities
- Build, maintain and manager relationships with technical, financial and commercial teams to enable a cross–company, collaborative approach to delivering the programme
- Work with the Floating Wind Stakeholder and Communications Manger to represent RWE at industry conferences and stakeholder meetings
- Work with the Floating Industrialisation team to support their efforts to enable serial production and low cost delivery.
Skills and Experience:
- Excellent knowledge of the floating wind market and supply chain
- Strategic insight into the challenges and opportunities of building an industry at scale and scale–up delivery
- Excellent understanding of the financial, commercial and business priorities of the different players involved (developers, designers, suppliers, ports)
- Able to gather evidence about key challenges and prepare appropriate strategies in response that deliver real value
- Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly for leading/participating in virtual teams drawn from across RWE to develop tenders and stakeholder agreements
- Working in the floating wind industry and the wider offshore renewable energy industry – or appropriate adjacent industries with similar challenges
- Consultancy or similar background in addition to energy industry experience is a plus (incl., relevant project exposure)
- Proven track record of developing pragmatic and effective strategies, and successful implementation and rigor on managing portfolio relevant challenges (e.g. cost down programs)
