- Manage NPD projects in liaison with the with Project Leads & Technical Project Leads, Group R&D Director, and other stakeholders to deliver products to meet time, quality and cost objectives.
- Manage new production introductions from R&D through into full production.
- Develop and promote new processes, methods and technologies to facilitate continuous improvement.
- Work with Group R&D Director, Site Director and Finance Director to set project budgets and carry out feasibility studies for new projects.
- Agree resource allocation with Group R&D Director & departmental heads required to deliver each project.
- Ensure effective cost, time scales, processes, health, safety and quality objectives are met.
- Provide high level management reports that are accessible to all.
- Work with the Project Lead / Technical Project Leads to compile an agreed, achievable Product Design Specification.
- Work with Project leads to formulate and drive the project plan for the complete development lifecycle.
- Anticipate bottle necks, provide escalation management, anticipate challenges and balance customer and business needs versus technical constraints.
- Delivery of large complex projects, by breaking them down into manageable elements, develop function specifications and then delivery them successfully on time.
- Ensure project plan task timings, quality and cost objectives are met by the R&D designers and third parties.
- Third Party Management – oversee the involvement of any third–party design partners, ensuring they meet our quality, cost and timing goals. This may require overseas travel.
- All employees have a responsibility for quality and must check the quality of the work they perform.
Meetings Attended:
- Cross–functional NPD meeting – reporting on progress to plan tasks from the R&D department (Weekly)
- Phase Gate reviews for each project (as required)
- R&D Stand and Deliver meetings – weekly
- Individual departmental project meetings (as required)
- Group COMEX presentations
- Other meetings as required
