Overview:
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager for our client s Fire & Security business based in Central Scotland.
• To deliver projects to a high standard for the fire and security operations business for Multi–Technical Services
• To take projects from design and costing stage to client handover, ensuring works are delivered on time, safely and within budget, meeting the clients requirements
• To contribute effectively to assisting team members and colleagues secure long–term growth by attracting and retaining customers through engineering–led solutions and excellence in project delivery
• To deliver safe, compliant, and quality products and services at all times
Aims & Objectives:
• Contribute effectively to the operational financial targets through effective project management
• Provide a high–level commitment to managing and delivering projects to a high standard meeting Company objectives and the customer s expectations
• To foster and develop excellent customer relations at all levels through pro–active communications and excellence in project delivery
• Support work winning strategies through effective contribution to tendering and key account liaison
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
• Achieve set/agreed targets for the products and services of the Company including Invoiced Production at the required GM/EBIT/CASH levels in line with annual budgets
• Deliver projects assigned to you; on time; on budget; complaint and safe
• Achieve/exceed project margins
• Maximise opportunities for additional works and cost reduction to enhance margins
• Identify and mitigate project risks
• Actively engage with clients in identifying new business opportunities
• Assist in work winning strategies by applying value–engineering to increase our competitive edge
• Actively engage in the Design to Ops Handover process and support design colleagues in securing true net costs and correct product choice for margin enhancement and system performance
• Support, guide and train team members in knowledge transfer and personal development
• Work closely with colleagues within the team to provide support, engineering cover, project management cover working together effectively as a complete business unit
• Maintain close working relationships with MTS colleagues thus ensuring cohesion
• Promote the Company brand and the business profile in the marketplace
• Carry out any reasonable tasks required by line management in a manner that is conducive to good business practice
• Support and maintain external customer communications through the full project process including:
- creation / identification of new opportunities
- pre–letting
- pre–start
- project mobilisation
- project delivery
- project handover
- project completion after–care
- securing maintenance opportunities
• Support and maintain internal communications through the full project delivery process including:
- internal handover involving commercial / BD/ design
- liaison with procurement as required
- liaison with HS&E business partner as required
- liaison with QA business partner as required
- liaison with commercial team as required for valuations, contract reviews, contractual matters, opportunities, and risk mitigation
- liaison with interdepartmental colleagues as required
Skills & Experience:
Essential
• Proven project management capability on managing multiple/diverse fire and security projects concurrently
• Robust track record in delivering profitable projects on time, on budget
• Experience on large scale, complex fire and security projects working with contractors, consultants, customers, and sub–contractors
• Good commercial awareness – budgetary control and reporting
• Pro–actively identifying and maximising contract opportunities
• Good level of contractual awareness anticipating and mitigating contract risks
• Fully conversant with all statutory, regulatory and industry codes of practice and standards for compliance
• Attention to detail in reading, interpreting, and understanding specifications, quotations, tenders, drawings, and associated documentation
• Strong numeracy skills
• Resource planning – proactively identifying and forecasting resources
• Work streams strong co–ordination and organisational skills
• Technical competence in all fire and security disciplines
• Fire and security product training
• MS Office Suite, Outlook, and MS Project
• Ability under pressure and able to meet critical deadlines
• Dealing with conflict and site challenges
• Flexible work ethic and good time management
• Deployment of tasks using own initiative
