We are looking for a talented and highly motivated Legal Counsel to support our growing business.

So what's the job?

Reporting directly to the CEO, Fasthosts Legal Counsel helps to ensure that Fasthosts complies with laws and regulations while carrying out its business and operations. The main areas of responsibility include advising board members and managers on relevant laws, responding to litigation, and overseeing the development of legal policies and procedures in the company.

Our Legal Counsel works closely with both internal stakeholders (including our Parent Company IONOS with any UK-based requirements) plus external stakeholders (such as UK law enforcement agencies and regulators).

Additionally, our Legal Counsel acts as the organisational lead on Data Privacy and Compliance topics, helping to ensure good governance of Fasthosts Internet Ltd in line with UK corporate governance and intercompany policy.

What will you get up to?
  • Act as lead for local legal guidance, presenting legal advice to Fasthosts Directors and Managers Manage, review, and draft the company's general terms and conditions, special offer terms, acceptable use policies, privacy policies, etc
  • Review, negotiate, and amend supplier, partner, and customer agreements (such as professional services, software licensing & property leases, and corporate transactions)
  • Draft and manage templated customer agreements to support the Fasthosts new Managed Service Business
  • Take responsibility for regulatory issues including data protection and general Internet law regulation, where necessary provides legal briefing/training to the UK business
  • Represent the company in litigation cases
  • Keep the business informed and up to date on new laws and regulations that might be applicable.
  • Act as Data Protection Officer for Fasthosts. take responsibility for coordination of crucial compliance topics
  • Act as point of contact for external agencies/regulators (law enforcement agencies, ASA, FCA, Trading Standards).
  • Recognise, manage and record legal risks, and be responsible for local legal risk register
  • Support corporate governance for Fasthosts on topics such as drafting/reviewing intercompany agreements and managing changes/updates to Companies House
  • Support Governance of Fasthosts Internet Ltd Board and updates to Company House Support parent company Ionos on UK legal matters when local expertise is required
What experience do you need under your belt?

This position is ideal for someone with a background in an in-house legal role looking for their next opportunity, or a postgraduate looking to further build on their commercial experience.

This role offers a diverse range of topics and needs an organised individual who thrives in a dynamic work environment, who is able to manage their time efficiently (and manage stakeholders accordingly).

  • Law Degree or equivalent (preferably with professional qualifications)
  • Professional experience of at least 2 years equivalent in an in-house legal department working in a commercial environment
  • Ability to manage legal projects/initiatives on behalf of the company
  • Demonstrable ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong organisational, prioritisation, and time management skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills used to demonstrate good negotiation and mediation skills
  • Experience defining policy, processes, and procedures
For this role you do not need to have worked in the industry before, but any exposure you have to supporting online service providers, subscription-based businesses, or Service sales would be beneficial.
