Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is recruiting a Windows Project Manager to e nsure the successful planning and delivery of the programmes of work designed to remove MS Windows 2008 and MS Windows 2012 from the Wood infrastructure estate. The WIN2K8 programme is 77% complete with only 246 servers still to mitigate. The Project Manager will take over the management of this programme of work and see it through to completion using existing processes, resources and methodologies. At the same time the Project Manager will engage with Wood IT resources to ramp up the WIN2K12 project making full use of the learning from the WIN2K8 project to inform ways of delivering more efficiently and effectively. Ultimately the Project Manager will take over the full responsibility for delivery of the WIN2K12 project utilising core project resources and under guidance from Senior Applications Support & Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities
  • Scope the WIN2K12 project
  • Ensure remediation paths for each application/server are investigated and determined
  • Identify and ensure engagement of required resources from team, business, vendor, partners, etc
  • Ensure Wood Processes and Procedures are followed (e.g. Change Management)
  • Ensure Audit Trail of decisions, actions, etc is captured
  • Pull together a Progress Tracking capability to include milestone tracking to ensure we are able to monitor and report on progress against each application and server based on the remediation plan (Decommission, Controlled Shutdown, In Place Upgrade, New Build, Tolerate)
  • Arrange and Chair progress meetings with core team
  • Drive project resources to complete activities to schedule
  • Manage Risks, Issues and Dependencies in an auditable format
  • Escalate issues to senior leadership
  • Attend Steering Committee Meetings to represent the Applications workstream
  • Ensure that all activities are performed at a consistently high standard with minimal risk to the Business, and that opportunities to improve services and processes are identified and actioned.
  • Be committed to health and safety and ensure familiarity with all of the Company's health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Be security conscious, ensure familiarity and co–operation with all Wood IT security procedures and data protection policies.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Previous, relevant IT experience

Knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Manage complex project with many moving parts
  • Manage stakeholders including 3rd party partners such as IBM and Kyndryl
  • Provide detailed and summary reporting to Senior Managers
  • Project Management skills; scheduling, milestrone tracking, RAID log, escalations, budget tracking, communication skills
  • Appreciation of Application centric motivators, drivers and philosophy (modernisation, technical strategy, etc)
  • Fully conversant with all aspects of application configuration and ongoing applications support.
  • Highly skilled in methods and practices for troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying and improving IT systems, able to deal with the most complex of issues.
  • Good presentation skills
