Head of NDC Distribution Location: Waltham Cross, Herts Salary: circa GBP60K+ (dependent on experience & qualifications) Hours of Work: 48 hours per week (Accountability of Distribution, therefore a flexible approach to hours will be required) Reynolds Catering Supplies is one of the country s leading fresh fruit & vegetable suppliers to the foodservice industry and the only remaining national family–run greengrocer in the UK. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of NDC Distribution to lead the Waltham Cross Distribution Management team, ensuring deliveries, backhaul, trunk and staff deployments are operating effectively, consistently, safely and in a customer focused and cost–efficient way whilst complying with all current legislation. Key Responsibilities: Lead, manage and motivate a team of Shift Managers, Supervisors & Specialists. Lead the engagement with drivers and all staff, communicating across the entire team in a constructive manner. Set & monitor team KPI s for WX Transport Operations based on customer agreements. Drive outstanding performance in departmental customer service. Improve and develop existing office–based work processes & procedures. Liaise with MD daily on service or operational issues. Liaise with Account Management, Business Development & Warehouse Operations to ensure customer needs are met and any problems are resolved. Work with Ops Director & senior colleagues to develop logistics strategy. Ensure Transport resources are maximised and consistent. Investigation of complaints. Auditing of WX Transport Dept. to ensure compliance with all legal requirements. Identify and remove Health & Safety risks to the WX working environment. Management of WX Distribution budgets. Measures and KPIs: Productivity indicators (Drops and cases per route). Cost controls (Costs per delivery and per case). Headline service level indicators (Timeliness, driver checks, delivery shortages). Staff retention indicators (labour turnover %). Trainee Driver Academy completion. General compliance with EU legislation & DVSA regulations. Agency/Courier costs. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate: Proven experience in Transport & Warehouse Operations. Experience of leading & managing a team. In depth knowledge of the legal framework surrounding Transport Operations. Hold a National Management CPC. Proven successful experience in maximising deployment productivity. Experience of recommending and implementing business change. Successful experience of setting and managing a team to meet business KPIs. Experience of the fast–moving, short lead–time business. Benefits: Annual bonus – up to 25% of basic salary.
