Job Description Our Communications and Engagement Directorate provides advice and leadership for all communications & engagement activity across Genomics England. In the role of Engagement Director, you will work closely with the Chief Communications and Engagement Officer and the Executive Leadership Team, to build relationships with a broad range of external stakeholders to protect and build our reputation, and to engage, inform and educate in the field of genomic science. As our Engagement Director, you'll be responsible for creating and implementing engagement strategies and annual plans for key stakeholder groups which include ; Government bodies and departments, key NHS stakeholders, Commercial, Clinical and Academic partners, industry bodies, Patients and Participants. Your aim is to educate the general public about the potential of genomic medicine, to dispel myths, to encourage participation, and to increase the uptake of genomic medicine. You will also have responsibility for overseeing strategy development for some exciting new initiatives and will also have a small team of direct reports. You'll have the opportunity to work with NHSE, DHSC, PHE and other industry bodies with significant interest in genomic science, including Wellcome, ADD and Biobank, to develop a network of focus groups, deliver ongoing content and creative campaigns and provide informed analysis on feedback from external stakeholders to make recommendations on how to manage any developing issues. Skills & Experience for success: You'll have extensive experience of successfully designing, planning, managing, delivering and measuring stakeholder engagement plans across a major complex delivery programme. With experience of working in a complex, politically–nuanced organisation and managing multiple stakeholder relationships, you will also be effective at building trusted relationships, negotiating and influencing at executive and board level. Ideally you will have strong planning, organisational and people skills, including the ability to approach challenges with intellectual rigour, work calmly and flexibly under pressure and manage competing priorities and changing deadlines. You will have the ability to demonstrate solid expertise in promoting and marketing campaigns to targeted audiences, developing supporting collateral and maximising attendance. You'll also be highly comfortable with media relations and have a sound grasp of digital and social media technologies with a highly creative approach
