I am hiring a Director of Financial Control (Europe) to join a household consumer goods brand where you will become part of a diverse and creative team that is continuously reshaping the iconic brands they have to offer. I am looking to hire someone who is keen to stretch and expand their potential, to have influence and impact on the business and who delivers with passion. This is a fast paced environment where results are key, so you need to bring energy and drive to be successful, as well as a diverse perspective and you must be able to move decisively with constant, forward momentum.
The Director of Financial Control will oversee European accounting activities as well as build the team, processes, and structure to develop into this next phase of growth and operationalisation of the business. Reporting to the European CFO, you will play a key role in helping to build a new accounting structure and key processes. This is an exciting opportunity to build a new global function and then lead that function to provide actionable insights to the business.
Key candidate requirements for this role:
- Chartered accountant with industry experience (preferably Big4 trained)
- Significant experience of corporate controlling in a global medium to large organisation
- Preferably experience of working in the Consumer Goods industry
- Must have breadth of experience across financial accounting, R2R, P2P and AP
- Experience of outsourcing or divestment activities
- Experience in financial and management reporting, consolidation, technical accounting, SEC reporting and systems deployment experience
- Strong understanding of IFRS and US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements including internal controls and reporting skills.
Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in developing and maintaining the stand–alone company's Europe accounting operations potentially including shared service functions.
- Provide leadership and oversight of all financial, technical accounting, and control policies as well as be responsible for maintaining a strong control environment and oversight function for the Europe business.
- Review and oversee the Balance Sheet and Income Statement output from the accounting teams
- Own the Europe consolidation and close process and related reporting
- Proactively perform account fluctuation analysis, reconciliations, ad–hoc analysis, and management reporting
- Drive continued efficiency and simplification across Finance processes and provide critical direction and input to the development and design of new standalone systems
- Support required financial (internal or external) audits and be the lead responsible for management of the external audit. In addition, be the lead responsible for statutory audits performed in the local countries.
- Hire, develop, and retain top–tier finance professionals through thought leadership, timely feedback and mentoring, as well as appropriate coaching and mentoring.
- Promote a team culture of high performance, efficiency and simplification across financial and accounting processes.
If you are interested in this opportunity and fulfil the criteria, please apply. Unfortunately, due to the anticipated volume of applicants, we may not be able to respond to every unsuccessful candidate.
