Associate Director – Fire Safety and Residential Risk – London OUR CLIENT are one of the world's leading investment brand names with hundreds of billions of pounds in assets under management in active, ethical investing for a variety of intermediaries and institutions around the world. We are now working with them to help fill the role of the Associate Director, Fire Safety and Residential Impact who will support the Director, Real Estate Risk, Compliance and Insurance in the delivery and implementation of fire safety advocacy and application across the real estate portfolio, with specific focus on the residential portfolio and major development activities.
THE ROLE: the successful candidate will be required to deliver an effective and cohesive fire risk management strategy, through cooperation with Real Estate investment management, development teams and the wider company's management teams, with a focus on residential and place making schemes to ensure that all legislative requirements are fulfilled and will be undertaking below listed, but not limited duties:
- Supporting the Director in delivering the strategic performance of H&S across the business against agreed KPI's through the establishment of reporting and monitoring protocols and processes.
- Supporting the team through effective strategic and management practices in their oversight of the Property Managers, external managers, and any others responsible for H&S.
- Working with external outsourced Property Managers, overseeing the delivery of sufficient and effective fire risk strategies across all capital projects in line with all H&S and CDM legislation.
- Supporting the Director in drafting responses to industry benchmarks and surveys, and the articulation of the fire risk and residential building safety strategy, approach and delivery of fire risk mitigation across all relevant real estate funds.
- Managing the delivery of risk management and adoption of appropriate health & safety legislative best practice for the PRS estate, driving innovation and supporting initiatives designed to continually improve the delivery of company's life and asset safety objectives.
- Supporting the Director to source, develop and deliver an appropriate Building Safety Management risk database to create, manage, monitor across all in–scope buildings.
- Working with insurers and industry leaders to support the Director in delivering sustainable buildings which have industry leading life safety systems and maintaining appropriate asset protection systems and protocols.
- Attending appropriate industry groups in support of the Director with the specific aim of maintaining and delivering against best practice in fire safety, Residential development and construction risk and safety innovations.
- Assisting on additional projects as required by the Director, Director, Head of Investment Management and other colleague across the wider team.
- Working alongside the Director and external specialists, drive best practice resilience strategies which will deliver holistic risk management across the portfolio.
- Working with internal and external stakeholders, leading the effective delivery of best practice real estate insurance arrangements in relation to construction placement and residential portfolios ensuring that best coverage is achieved on each property, working alongside the appointed brokers and other insurance professionals; maintaining accurate records and supporting the delivery of the insurance risk management programme, supporting the Director to ensure best value is achieved.
- Providing administrative and policy support to the Director in all elements of Real Estate fire risk strategy and Building Safety Act Regulator requirements, including stakeholder and peer group engagement, consultant management, data management oversight and delivery of Safety Case Files as necessary.
- Supporting the Associate Director, Real Estate Risk & Insurance and other members of the real estate team on insurance and general health and safety as required.
- Assisting on additional projects as required by the Director, Director, Head of Investment Management and other colleagues across the wider insurance, risk and environmental impact and sustainability spectrum.
- Supporting CSR and stakeholder liaison project programme, assisting in the delivery of company policy and policy statements, including H&S Policies and Anti–Slavery Policy delivery.
- Adhering to the FCA's Conduct Rules, understanding that they set basic standards of good personal conduct.
- Fostering and maintaining a culture reflecting FCA and other regulatory obligations (and Code of Ethics) compliant with the FCA Conduct Rules.
- Ensuring all obligations as a Certified person are performed.
THE PERSON: to be considered for this role, you should hold a relevant professional experience in an active real estate role and professional qualifications (RICS, NEBOSH, or equivalent) or working towards an appropriate qualification preferred and you must be aware of all compliance/statutory requirements and protocols and be fully aware of current legislation and be able to demonstrate recent relevant experience in relation to the Building Safety Act with an excellent attention to detail, data analysis skills and report writing abilities. Also, you will be able to provide experience in a fire and/or health and safety role within a complex real estate environment. You will be willing to deputise for the Director as necessary on order to report to and represent the business at Board level as required. You will be able to work with all stakeholder types, including internal teams, consultants and advisors across all platforms.
