Position: Senior Systems Engineer – Body Electronics Salary: Very competitive + excellent benefits Type: Permanent Location: West Midlands/Flexible working available Due to unprecedented growth, this award–winning electric vehicle OEM is urgently seeking a Body Electronics Systems Engineer within the Body & Comfort Electronics team. They work hard to create a unique experience for the customer, owner and driver which requires them to push the limits of technology and innovation. The purpose of the Body Electronics role in the Body & Comfort Electronics team is to develop and/or integrate body electronics systems and components on multiple new vehicle programmes. About The Role As Systems Engineer, you will support the Principal Engineer to ensure that the new body electronics systems and components can perform and support the other units within R&D to deliver this mission. You will lead technical discussions with suppliers, internal cross–functional teams, and our partner OEMs for the design and integration of donor, modified and new technologies. You will be responsible for producing and maintain engineering documentation as part of the vehicle development process, including DFMEA (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), DVP (Design Verification Plans), Engineering Release, Issue Resolution, and Sign–Off. You will support component packaging activities and reviews, working closely with our Vehicle Integration and Electrical CAD Integration teams. You will lead and co–ordinate design reviews, calibration, verification & validation, and certification activities throughout the development lifecycle. You will produce commodity timing plans to support high level vehicle development milestones. You will have the opportunity to work as part of a cross functional team to define, design, develop and implement new vehicle capabilities within the group. Your systems engineering skillset will be of great importance. Mandatory skills Demonstrable experience of delivering automotive electronics at a systems, component or vehicle level within the Body Electronics domain. Experience with System design and development inc. delivery to customers. Experience with automotive product development processes. Experience in requirements elicitation and management for owned and interfacing components and systems. Practical experience with vehicle network architectures CAN, LIN (Ethernet also desirable). Experience in delivering electrical systems in accordance with EMC requirements. Experience in leading test and validation activities including benchmarking. Practical experience using diagnostic software, measurement, and calibration tools. Practical experience working in an Agile / Scrum framework to develop and deliver products. Proactive and rigorous, with strong problem–solving abilities. Desirable skills Model Based Software Engineering development experience (MATLAB Simulink preferable). Use of systems or modelling languages and tools (e.g. SysML, UML, Enterprise Architect, IBM Rhapsody). Practical experience using PLM systems (Teamcenter) and CAD packages like CATIA (optional) and Vis Mockup (preferred). Understanding of Functional Safety and safety analysis techniques. Additional Skills Experience with system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma or similar framework. Understanding of Cyber Security requirements and principles. You have an Electrical, Electronic, Systems, Electro–mechanical, Automotive, or similar engineering degree. Other recognized engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience may be considered. You will be part of a cross–functional and international team, with English as a natural language for written and spoken communication.
