THE ROLE
Building on the fantastic research and development work to date, this role will focus on the delivery of SGN's LTS Futures project and programme, undertaking a detailed material testing and validation process, before constructing and operating a first of a kind 100% hydrogen demonstration of transmission asset conversion and uprating. The job holder will be responsible for the on time, on budget delivery of the GBP30m LTS futures project. The appointee will liaise with both Scottish and UK government to ensure alignment with their respective decarbonisation policies, prepare for and manage the delivery of all phases of the LTS futures in accordance with the UK governments national hydrogen programme, culminating in the deep decarbonisation of the gas network through delivery of new infrastructure and conversion to hydrogen and green gas as part of the green recovery.
The job holder will manage the delivery team, associated contracts and contractors.
Key responsibilities will include;
- Responsible for the on time on budget delivery of LTS Futures including inter alia: the safety, regulatory, construction, customer engagement, contracting and stakeholder engagement
- Represent SGN at key external groups to ensure GDNs and other key external project stakeholders including ofgem, Scottish Government, BEIS, HSE are engaged and working collaboratively to allow for programme success
- Represent SGN and UK networks at the BEIS Hydrogen programme sub boards for network safety and integrity and Trials
- Promote the programme and outcomes at industry events, industry standard and government led groups
- Chair the technical groups and Lead the development of UK industry standards through IGEM
- Close liaison with the wider SGN group to ensure interfaces between SGN futures and Scotland Gas Networks are managed effectively
- Support the development and delivery of future programme phases for the region

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Expert in LTS Programme
- Experience of major projects, project and programme direction
- Expert knowledge and understanding of gas/oil network/industry and associated legislation
- Expert Knowledge in pipeline materials and inspection methods
- Proven track record in strategic negotiations and delivery of complex R&D projects
- Expert in advanced project management, 5 years of managing R&D
- Knowledge of all colours of hydrogen, particularly from reformation of natural gas
- Excellent communicator at all levels. This role requires frequent attendance at senior forums. For example government ministers and senior civil servants.
- Knowledge of ofgem regulatory governance essential
- Contract dispute experience
- Degree/Masters in a relevant discipline
- Contract management and negotiation skills, with the ability to write up contracts to a high level
