Job Description and Person Spec – HR Manager ROLE OVERVIEW: Are you an HR Manager looking to join a family with a large brand and even bigger aspirations for change? My client is looking for someone who is not stuck in their ways, someone who is forward–thinking, someone looking to bring in a "new way of thinking", someone who wants a challenge, work for a client who is aware that things need fixing, As the site HR manager, you will have overall responsibility for recruitment and retaining enough suitably qualified staff to meet business needs. Responsible for direct recruitment while reducing the reliance on agency labour and developing rising stars from within the business. Drive improved employee engagement, learning and development, compensation, rewards and benefits, and organisational development to help the company and its people develop and grow. Support the Directors in all HR led initiatives, including newsletters, briefings, and audits. Support operational managers in the softer skills required to effectively manage people, including Interviewing techniques, performance appraisal, and counselling. Partnership with Health & Safety Manager to ensure all work is carried out in line with H&S policies and practices. Ensuring H&S practices are reviewed and communicated. You will fulfil the lead role in managing attendance and timekeeping, including identifying trends, chairing disciplinary meetings, and dismissing. To regularly review and update all employment documentation, including contracts, handbook, and policies, as required. KEY INTERFACES: To support the Managing Director through creating and delivering a people strategy whilst ensuring that it complies with the statutory requirement is the minimum standard for managing people and processes and working towards enhancing everyone s employment experience, KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: 100% Audit ready compliance Employee engagement survey Training Attendance & Staff turnover Agency spend to budget KEY AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY: Ensure compliance with WTR, SEDEX & ETI Base code. Organizational design, talent planning, and reward. Operate as a change agent manage transformation and change. Raise the accountability and people skills level of line managers. Monitor and review attendance. Manage the administration of the disciplinary process and chair meetings, and issue penalties. Work in partnership with the labour provider and other external agents to develop innovative sourcing and personnel provision. Detailed and up–to–date knowledge of policies and procedures, including all COVID–related legislation and rules. Build long–term influential relationships. The key administrator of the site HR processes and future integrated HR System. Initiative–taking involvement in community–run projects, e.g., career fairs, DYW events, and local schools and colleges. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED: Bachelor s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required A minimum of three years of human resource management experience essential Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Commercially astute. Payroll experience is an advantage. Learning & Development Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality Thorough knowledge of UK employment–related laws, regulations, legislation and HR best practices THE KEY CHALLENGES OF THE JOB: To ensure enough numbers of suitably skilled and qualified staff to meet the needs of the business To encourage operational managers in adopting a mindset whereby they take ownership of all people s processes To consistently manage effective relations with labour providers To keep abreast of all industry and legislative changes Dealing with difficult people and complex/sensitive issues Achieving goals of HR department whilst ensuring minimal disruption to production etc. Indirect reports: Finance and HR Assistant Compensation: Employer pension contribution 30 days holiday Product allowance Free on–site car parking
