Would you like a key role in a thriving Deaf and Disabled People's Organisation? If you have an ability to engage with people as equals, a solid understanding of casework and safeguarding, a collaborative and encouraging management style and would love the chance to campaign for a fair deal for disabled people, we want to hear from you. This role is a real opportunity for a talented disabled person to make a difference. Overseeing our communications and engagement, user voice and service delivery functions, you do not need to be a communications specialist, but you do need to be a superb communicator who is confident to ensure that all our outputs align with our strategy and brand. Service delivery and safeguarding experience is also key. You'll be reflective about your own lived experience of disability and comfortable discussing it where appropriate, but you'll also be motivated to hear from as many diverse voices as possible to build the case for change. You'll also be committed to working within the social model of disability, and passionate about removing disabling barriers from people's lives. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in both overseeing and advising on service delivery to individuals, and in using the learning from what our support workers and team manager are seeing on the ground to advocate for systemic change. You'll have the opportunity to engage with our work with the Disability Benefits Consortium and Disability Poverty Campaign Group to make a difference at national level, and you'll be as comfortable talking to senior decision makers as you are engaging with grassroots groups. At local level, you'll ensure we drive engagement and gather intelligence to make the case for change locally, and you'll have the people skills to ensure we maintain or excellent relationships with local stakeholders. You'll be motivated to contribute to developmental work around all these strands of activity, helping to ensure that this work is sustained and expanded in the future. Above all, you'll be excited by this opportunity because it aligns with your own beliefs and values. In return for your commitment to the cause, you will become part of a friendly and supportive team, working within a focused but flexible culture, where diversity is valued and you can bring your whole self to work. You'll be based in our Colindale office, and able to attend meetings across Barnet and beyond, but with extensive opportunities for home working. This post is only open to disabled people. We encourage applications from Black and global majority disabled people, who are underrepresented at this level of the organisation. DBS check will be required. In your covering letter, please ensure that you explain you would draw on insights from your own lived experience of disability to deliver the role.
