The role
Our Planning department are looking to recruit a 1–3 year pqe lawyer to join our growing Development Risk practice. The team is led by partner Tim Fogarty and provides advice on a broad range of development risk issues which face the firm's developer client base.
Winckworth Sherwood act for a significant number of the UK's major housebuilders and Registered Providers who are generating an increasing volume of development risk work for the team reflecting the continuing pressure on housing delivery.
The team works in close collaboration with the firm's planning and real estate practices and advises clients on the following core areas:
– Rights of Light with a particular emphasis on the tactics for managing risk, negotiating release deeds and the suitability of insurance cover
– Neighbourly matters arrangements in including access, oversail and scaffolding rights
– Planning disputes and the judicial review of planning decisions
– Planning enforcement including breach of condition notices, planning contravention notices and other enforcement action by local planning authorities.
The role is fast moving, involves a significant degree of client contact and requires an appetite for problem solving across a broad range of development issues.
Candidate specification
The successful candidate is likely to be a real estate lawyer with experience of acting for residential developer clients and an interest in the areas of work the Development Risk team handles. Past experience (as a trainee solicitor) in planning and/or property litigation would be beneficial but not a requirement.
