Prospectus is delighted to be partnering with Doc Society in the recruitment of their new Finance Manager. This role is offered on a permanent full–time basis, with the organisation working a four day working week – Monday to Thursday. The Finance Manager will report to the Finance Director. Please note, you will be required to start in this position as soon as possible, no later than November. There will be frequent travel to London for a handover period. Doc Society is an innovative non–profit organisation founded in 2005 that works with the most inspiring independent documentary filmmakers all over the world. They have 6 companies established across 4 jurisdictions. The organisation brings people together to unleash the transformational power of documentary film. A commitment to anti–racism, economic justice and climate justice is embedded in all they do and how we do it. The Finance Manager will report to the Finance Director. You will be assisting them in managing all aspects of financial control and reporting within the organisation, and in communicating with funders, investors and other stakeholders. You will be responsible for managing and developing the Finance Officer, day to day bookkeeping, banking, VAT and payroll, the preparation of monthly management accounts, and maintaining the financial databases and models that we use to track our activities. In addition to this, you will assist the Finance Director in ensuring the smooth running of all aspects of the financial management of the organisation. The successful applicant will be a qualified accountant, with an internationally recognised body. You will possess strong accounting, financial management and analysis skills, with significant experience with QuickBooks or equivalent accounting software. You should have experience managing the payroll function, as well as preparing VAT accounts. You will have knowledge of audit and compliance, and be comfortable working as part of an agile, entrepreneurial organisation. Finally, you should have an interest in Doc Society's mission and work, and enthusiasm for independent documentary film. Familiarity with UK SORP, and US charity accounting and reporting is desirable but not essential. We want Doc Society to be the place where a diverse mix of talented people want to come, to stay and to do their best work. Doc Society's promotion of diversity and inclusion is clearly reflected in all of our documentaries and across all of our programmes. We are fully focused on equality and believe in diversity of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin and all the other characteristics that make us who we are. For this reason we strongly encourage applicants from under–represented groups. In order to apply please submit your CV and Supporting Statement in the first instance. Following your application, you may be contacted by Prospectus for an informal discussion, and be asked to provide further information to assist with this recruitment process. Prospectus are committed to building inclusive and diverse organisations, and welcome applications from all sections of the community, including those with lived experience. We invest in your journey as a candidate and are committed to supporting you in your application.
