Job Title: Senior Finance Programme ManagerLocation: Ipswich/NorthamptonContract length: 6 months (could extend, programme–dependent)Pay rate: Circa GBP725 per day, inside IR35My client is a renewable energy company engaged in renewable power generation, the production of sustainable biomass and the sale of renewable electricity to businesses. They operate a generation portfolio of sustainable biomass, hydro–electric and pumped hydro storage assets across four sites in England and Scotland. It is the UK's largest source of renewable electricity. The company also operates a global bioenergy supply business with manufacturing facilities at 13 sites in the United States and Canada, producing compressed wood pellets for its own use and for customers in Europe and Asia.Job PurposeResponsible for the delivery of a complex and high–profile Finance Transformation programme with several projects to the agreed time, cost, and quality standards. The job holder will mentor and direct Project Managers ensuring standards and best practices are adhered to. Act as the technology delivery interface into the business area in a matrix environment. The Senior Finance Programme Manager will work with business sponsors and stakeholders to define and shape the Finance projects as part of the wider Finance project portfolio. The job holder will support in the delivery of projects and manage all aspects of the project delivery, from the initial scoping and shaping through to handing over to the service team, through the effective management of assigned resources (both internal and external), approved suppliers and allocated budgets (with a potential programme budget of up to GBP12m).Dimensions: Deliver complex and high–profile finance projects within agreed timescales, within approved budgets and to an agreed level of quality driving efficiencies Work with stakeholders at all levels Line management of between 4–6 IT Project Managers Matrix management of assigned project IT resources, usually between 3 and 10 individuals per project Management of project budgets up to GBP5m, and wider programme budgets up to GBP12m Management of deliverables from 3rd party suppliers Clear communication of progress and obstacles for delivery either written or verbally Facilitate Steering CommitteeKey Accountabilities: Shapes, plans, directs, co–ordinates activities to manage and implement interrelated projects from contract/proposal initiation to final operational stage Plan resourcing for the programme, ensuring there are adequate resources, including contingency arrangements, to deliver commitments. Lead, coach and motivate the programme team, across business functions and the IT organisation to deliver successful outcomes. Plans, schedules, monitors, and reports on activities related to the portfolio Direct senior stakeholder communications and change management activity to ensure changes embed within the business organisation to drive benefit realisation in line with the business case. Takes full responsibility for the definition, documentation, and successful completion of complex projects (typically with significant business, political or high–profile impact, and high–risk dependencies), ensuring that realistic project, quality, change control and risk management processes are maintained Proactively prioritise and managing competing objectives, inter–dependencies, and risks to safeguard the overall programme or portfolio delivery Monitors and controls resources, revenue and capital costs against the project budget and manages expectations of all project stakeholders Supports effective business change by building relationships with and business Transformation team, IT Management Team, and business leads Deliver the programme or portfolio in accordance with quality standards, agreed change methodology, and portfolio governance standards Knowledge, Skills, and Experience required: Significant experience in Programme Delivery in focus for this role (i.e., Generation, Biomass, Customer B2B Supply, Core Services etc.) and has successfully managed and/or overseen large and complicated projects. Strong ability to identify and manage competing priorities across a wide range of programme or portfolio activities, balancing competing business needs and demands. Superior business stakeholder management skills and a strong ability to engage across the organisation to drive engagement at a leadership level. Ability to engage with and influence shared services teams and operational teams Ability to command respect and create a sense of community within the Project team Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring, and control Significant experience of business and benefits case development Commercial awareness, with a solid understanding of the procurement process Management of 3rd party contracts Deep knowledge of programme and project methodologies (e.g., MSP, Waterfall, Agile) with recognised qualification in MSP. Experienced at budgeting and resource allocation process Ability to identify issues, find ways of solving and able to deal with high levels of complexity, ambiguity, and changes of business focus. Ability to pre–empt problems and ensures risks are mitigated Ability to exercise high levels of persuasion and negotiation in situations where strong opposition or several divergent views exist.
