GBR Recruitment are proudly working exclusively with a well respected progressive construction client based in Leicestershire recruiting for an experienced Head of Procurement to lead their procurement activity from setting the initial procurement / purchasing / supply chain strategy to rolling it out successfully across the business. This is a key procurement professional role shaping how the business works with suppliers & 3rd parties to fulfil customer orders OTIF procuring quality fit for purpose raw materials, products & services that meet the businesses requirements & the customers needs, working to a high quality in line with the companies ISO9001 QA accreditation, something they are proud of. Ideally this role would suit someone from a construction / built environment or a steel works / fabrication environment with experience of working in businesses that deliver various solutions to end using clients / main contractors such as high rise steel construction & steel erecting, fabrication & welding, grounds works, utilities works, setting foundations, civils, maintenance of properties, rooftops & more or similar. Great opening within an expanding / developing small SME organisation that works with many leading names within the construction world & other sectors. The Role: To successfully roll out and develop the procurement function within the business, by exploring purchasing requirements / needs of the business as well as supporting both the Operations and Commercial Team s in a cross functional, matrix role. Duties of the Head of Procurement will be: Develop a new, key role within the business working cross functionally to bring efficient procurement methods to all departments for products, materials, and services. Work closely with department heads to maintain detailed operational understanding of all purchasing requirements to maintain our Right First–Time strategy (commercially led point of view). Inform and advise Commercial Team on current pricing to support the request for tender process. Revisit suppliers post tender to negotiate improvement on costs. Investigate, analyse, and negotiate long–term and short–term agreements with suppliers to plan, present and implement strategic purchasing. Negotiate payment terms with suppliers to support account s function. Maintain relevant industry knowledge to effectively plan and forecast buying requirements, identifying market risks, opportunities, and supplier capabilities. Ensuring that materials and services are bought in on time in full and to the required specification/s. Provide a preferred supplier list to all Operational and Commercial teams, negotiate rates, and develop strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability of supply plus supply accuracy / quality. Proactively implement any cost saving initiatives. Manage supplier performance feeding into the wider company ISO9001 QA accreditation. Expand supplier list relations to provide comparison rates and sustainable supply chain. Work with the business team to create and manage a Procurement Policy and spend compliance to implement best practice standards. Map process and deliver training to ensure wider business team members adhere to a formal process. Continually maintain and audit internal business practises. The ideal Candidate: Highly experienced in a Senior / Head of purchasing, buying, procurement or commercial management role. Experience of influencing procurement decisions at a project level within a Construction/Building, Engineering or Manufacturing environment, preferably Steel (but not essential). Demonstrable experience of undertaking negotiations with supply partners. Have the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Be confident with MS Office applications particularly Excel (formulas, pivot tables V look up etc..) CIPS (Full Membership or working towards, not essential) Interviews for this role are to take place immediately with a late September / October start available depending on the successful applicants notice period.
