Part time Director at the Yorkshire & Humber Institute of Technology • Remuneration – GBP14K per annum notional 1 day per week • Fixed Term until 31st July 2024 in the first instance Background The Yorkshire & Humber Institute of Technology (YHIoT) is one of 21 Institutes of Technology across England designed to increase access to higher level technical skills required by employers. The Institute is based on a collaborative partnership between seven colleges, two universities and five anchor employers in the region. The main focus of the YHIoT is to increase the number of people with higher level technical skills which are very much needed by local businesses to drive the Yorkshire & Humber economy. The partnership delivers high quality, higher level technical qualifications with a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects. These include higher technical qualifications such as HNCs, HNDs, Apprenticeships and Foundation Degrees in subjects such as: • Engineering and Engineering Technologies • Manufacturing Technician • Computing and Digital Technologies, Cyber Security, Software Development, Computer Games Development • Precision Agriculture Technology, Agricultural Engineering • Construction and the Built Environment. Opportunity To support the YHIoT s next phase of development, the Board of Directors is seeking to engage a part–time Director. We consider this will be a notional 1 day/week commitment, with agile working in terms of hours/days and place of work to match personal circumstances which will be subject to negotiation between the Chair of the Board and the ideal candidate Working with the Chair of the Board and the Head of the YHIoT the Director will: Drive the strategic direction of the YHIoT to ensure that it reflects the skills needs of the local area. Provide leadership, direction and prioritisation of the Yorkshire and Humber Institute of Technology Ltd (YHIoT). Influence and build productive relationships with key YHIOT stakeholders. Lead and manage appropriate governance and communication structures in line with the Department for Education (DfE) contractual requirements. Develop and maintain effective relationships with all YHIOT partners at a senior level. Develop and maintain effective partnerships with key employers in the area to further the objectives of the YHIoT. Oversee and report on the achievement of KPIs to the Board. Identify opportunities for growth, develop projects and access further funding, on behalf of the partnership. About you With high credibility and the ability to influence at a senior level, you will be an excellent communicator and have ability and wherewithal to bring key stakeholders together to deliver strategic goals. You will have an understanding of the Further Education sector, knowledge and experience of strategic planning, and a demonstrable track record of leadership and management including delivery of improvements and new developments. Administratively, YHIoT is based at York College but the role will involve travel to partner organisations across the region so a full clean driving licence is also essential.
