Knowledge & Development Lawyer | Corporate Finance
Burness Paull is one of Scotland's premier law firms with offices of equal size and strength across Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow, serving clients in Scotland, the UK and globally. We are looking for a Knowledge & Development Lawyer to join our Corporate Finance team in either Aberdeen, Edinburgh or Glasgow. You can be based from any of our offices and can take advantage of our hybrid approach to working flexibly from home and the office. The role is permanent and can accommodate full or part time hours (minimum 3 days per week). The role will encompass all training needs, principally arranging and, where appropriate, leading training at all fee earner levels; ensuring that lawyers are kept up to date with all relevant legal developments; undertaking bespoke research tasks for transactional and non–transaction matters and drafting and maintaining the precedents required by the Corporate Finance team. The role will also involve some firm–wide training of trainees as part of our PEAT 2 programme. As a member of the KDL team, the role will also involve working with the other KDLs in the firm to ensure sharing of information as required by other divisions, as well as consistency of knowledge and excellence throughout the firm. The KDL should be perceived as a valuable resource providing technical excellence in all knowledge management aspects of Corporate law. Duties and responsibilities: Create, implement and supervise the Corporate Finance team's internal training programmes, including division wide–training, training for junior assistants and training for trainees. This will involve identifying training needs, delivering sessions personally and co–ordinating speakers for other sessions. Ensure that the Corporate Finance team are kept fully up to date with all relevant developments in the law. The role will be to act as a filter of the various sources of law, bringing to the attention of team members key developments and collating these in a format which will thereafter be readily accessible. Be responsible for developing the knowledge management aspects of the Corporate Finance section of the firm's intranet. Attend and participate in regular meetings with the firm's KDL team to discuss and implement current initiatives and support the firm–wide knowledge management needs. Person specification: First–class knowledge of Corporate law. Highly organised and motivated self starter and have the ability to build and maintain a good relationship with colleagues. Comfortable presenting and training groups of lawyers. A flair for producing written materials. Open and approachable and willing to work flexibly to assist the team as required.
