Chief Operating Officer

Moon Executive Search is delighted to have been appointed as retained search partners to Bristol Old Vic Theatre School to appoint to a new role of Chief Operating Officer for the organisation.

The role of Chief Operating Officer is pivotal both in terms of its position within the Executive Leadership Team, and with its responsibility to ensure the world–class training is protected and adapted to the modern theatrical and screen industries. With this in mind, The Theatre School needs a Chief Operating Officer who is outward–looking, aspirational andunderstands business, who can bring those qualities into the School to ensure they continue to focus on their students' training and direct their resources accordingly.

The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, its students and its staff. You will provide leadership and guidance across all operational areas of the School, and in particular finance, and you will act as Clerk to the Trustees. You will be a highly effective communicator and you will engage and work with staff, students and the marketing, student recruitment, admissions, finance and estates teams. You will have an understanding of charity governance and ensure robust reporting to statutory bodies. You will carry an empathy towards the variety of personalities and dynamics in the Theatre School, whilst also being able to maintain the course of direction. Lastly, you will be part of a formidable and charismatic team, alongside the executive leadership and the Trustees.

For this role we are seeking a qualified accountant (ACMA or equivalent) who has the proven ability to work at strategic and operational level, with a clearly focused mindset but an equally flexible approach to change. Experience of working in a Higher Education setting and / or the charity sector is desirable.
