They have picked up several awards and they have ambitious plans. Our client is looking to appoint an Operations Director to join their Senior Leadership Team based at their site in Christchurch. Reporting to the MD, the successful Operations Director will be leading a team of 100+ staff with autonomy across the entire commercial function including logistics, account management, customer services, compliance, and HR. This is the perfect role for somebody who is meticulous, tech savvy, process orientated and driven. The Operations Director will own this area of the business ensuring they continue to optimise infrastructure and deliver the best–inclass service globally, which will in turn support the wider strategic goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Driving continuous improvement across the business with a strong focus on bottom line profitability
• Thinking commercially and take responsibility for the costs and expenditures associated with the Operations department
• Challenge and respond to the analysis of the KPI Data, driving improvement and efficiencies across the business
• Leading the Operations department: creating a strong team morale, focus on employee engagement and job satisfaction
• Drive automation strategy
• Prioritising customers and instil an ethos of customer excellence across the Operations department, both internal and external customers
• Working with and proactively influencing Heads of Department to drive the achievement of the Operational KPIs and initiatives
• Influencing Senior Stakeholders on key decisions, business growth and strategy to future proof the business
• To drive and continuously improve a safe and healthy working environment for all colleagues through management & observation of site compliance, health and safety rules and practices
• Play a key role as the business continues to expand its network and proposition
• Builder of Succession, Recruitment & Retention Plans for the business
• Ensure compliance of all legalities for both statutory and company obligation

Skills and Experience:

• Extensive Procurement/Supply Chain or Operational Leadership experience
• Experience of automation in logistics and using this to drive efficiency
• Tech Savvy by nature
• Proven management ability of a high performing team
• Experienced in managing commercial relationships
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Practical with strong problem–solving skills
• An analytical approach and eye for the detail
• Previous experience of remotely managing and influencing numerous teams
• Experience developing teams through periods of change and cultural enhancement
