Your new companyHays Legal are delighted to be representing an industry leader in UK's Building Services sector who are conducting a search for a talented Company Lawyer to join their ambitious team at headquarters in Banbridge.Our client specialises in the design, supply and installation of a wide range of Prefabricated energy solutions, typically built in NI and shipped throughout Ireland, UK & Europe. They offer turnkey design, build & operate solutions for commercial energy centres and large–scale district heating solutions and have experience with successfully procuring and delivering many similar packages to a wide range of public bodies throughout UK & Europe.Through continuous investment within their teams, and facilities, they've established themselves as a leader within the industry, with a strong pipeline of orders secured and sustained growth is expected within the coming years.Your new roleIn your new role you will be integrated into the business as a Company Solicitor to support the growing Commercial Team at Head Quarters in Banbridge. This post is a permanent contract and offers an amazing opportunity for you to gain experience with a progressive and dynamic company.You will be responsible for ensuring the company operates within the confines of commercial law while delivering on client's needs and you will be the go–to person for any contractual or legal matters within the company.Core Responsibilities:
- Early client engagement to review contractual scope and then prepare, issue and negotiate contractual review notes to ensure final agreed terms are in line with necessary requirements.
- Lead the preparation of Contractual handover pack & attend internal post award meetings for successful projects to discuss and review key contract drivers with the Commercial & Contract leads.
- Take the lead on the contractual review and negotiation of same for all live projects, highlighting areas of risk or contention to relevant team members.
- Direct and assist the Snr QS team & Contracts delivery team on contractual matters as and when they arise.
- Take the lead in drafting and negotiating our own contracts with the subcontractor supply chain and help drive the team to continuous improvement.
- Review and negotiate collateral warranties, guarantees and other ancillary contracts.
- Take the lead in operating the company's insurance policies and dealing with any live claims.
- Provide training to the company and senior team on key legal issues that could affect the company and projects.
- Ensure the company continues to operate in line with the law and requirements as an employer.
What you'll need to succeed
- You will be a qualified solicitor with non–contentious experience of construction contracts including JCT, NEC and bespoke contracts.
- 5 years minimum PQE with Commercial experience, ideally in the construction industry.
- Commercially astute and ambitious
- High standard of organisational and time management skills.
- High level of IT literacy, especially in Microsoft Packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication & negotiation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent client engagement skills.
