JSS Public Service's team are pleased to be working with a Public Sector organisation, based in South Devon, to recruit an Interim Assistant Director of Finance Business Partnering on a 4–5 month contract with potential to extend further. Our client operates on a hybrid working model and you will be required to attend their offices 2–3 times a week.

You will play a crucial role in developing the financial management and business partnering functions and support the Chief Finance Officer in addressing some of the key strategic and operational questions including sustainability and transformation.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage 5 direct reports with a wider team of 20+ finance professionals including development oof the function.
  • Lead on scoping changes and transformation proposed into long term financial models, forecasts and scenario planning.
  • Development of business analytics capabilities.
  • Manage the overarching management accounts function, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to provide effective advice internally and externally.
  • Manage the annual budget setting process.
  • Provide long and medium term strategic and operational management advice.
  • Lead on the development of systems and processes for month–end and budget setting.
  • Overseeing the business partnering team for undertaking the production, analysis, interpretation and challenge from a financial perspective of highly complex problems and business cases.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Full professional accounting CCAB qualification with significant post qualification experience and current registration.
  • Proven experience of working in a strategic leadership role and managed teams previously.
  • Excellent ability to plan workloads, set and monitor prioritised to achieve conflicting deadlines for the business area.
  • Expert skills in writing reports on complex financial issues.
  • Advanced influencing, negotiating, persuasion, communication and presentation skills to individuals and large groups of people both financial and non–financial backgrounds.
  • Experience knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Access.

Please note, this role falls inside of IR35 and will be paid through an umbrella company.
