About the role:
Our company is taking its initial steps and building its founding core team to trade electricity across the globe using sophisticated algorithms.
We are looking for an ambitious Chief Operating Officer / COO to lead the growth of our company at a key point in its development into a fully operational and successful international energy trading company.
We are looking for a strongly motivated individual who is looking for a unique new challenge.
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Design, make recommendations to the Board and implement the company operating model and associated action to deliver the business plan
- Lead the establishment and continuous improvement of daily trading operations as the business grows
- Ensure necessary resources are in place and are utilised effectively and efficiently across teams
- Define and maintain clear accountabilities and decision rights for the business
- Lead effectively the commercial team, including traders, analysts and data scientists, and appoint team leads as appropriate
- Monitor operational performance of the algorithmic platform and the trading performance of the strategies executed, liaising with the risk manager as needed
- Ensure all necessary processes are defined, documented, implemented and managed in a robust manner whilst still enabling flexibility and operational efficiency
- Liaise with the Compliance Officer to ensure the business can grow into new markets while maintaining the highest standards of compliance with the relevant regulations
- Manage and maintain external relationships with exchanges, regulators and other industry bodies as necessary
- Contribute to the development of the business plan and ensure the team has the tools and competence to deliver on it
- Bring forward to the CEO new growth opportunities for the business
- Ensure effective communication and cooperation between the commercial and the technical teams
- Timely and accurate reporting to senior management and other stakeholders on trading performance, operational issues and growth areas for the business
- Risk manager, head of trading and head of analytics will directly report to the COO.

Experience and Skills we re looking for:
If you have all or most of the following experience and skills, we d like to hear from you.
- At least 5 years working in the energy trading sector
- Experience building and leading high–performance, results–driven teams
- Significant interaction with regulators and the development and implementation of new market rules and regulations – preferably in Power markets
- Establishment and maintenance of relationships with trading exchanges both on the technical and commercial aspects
- Development of trading strategies across the full life–cycle from idea inception through back–testing, implementation and up to performance scaling;
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast–paced, high–performance, high risk / reward environment
- Experience with financial planning and management reporting and other forms of stakeholder management within a business.
