Head of Underwriting - Commercial Property

My client is a successful alternative lender who is in the process of launching a new commercial property investment product in early 2023.

They are recruiting for a Head of Commercial Underwriting to set up and implement credit policies, work alongside the Commercial Director to help build out future products as well as lead a small underwriting team. Whoever joins the team will grow/mould the role.

Responsibilities

• Working with the Commercial Director, ExCo and other key stakeholders (Ops, Marketing and Treasury team etc.)
• The role will be key to the development of new business lines and products related to commercial lending.
• Initially, this will be focused on Commercial Real Estate Investment, however this will in time evolve to cover development finance and other specialist commercial products.

What you will Bring

• Experience of developing and implementing credit policies within Commercial Real Estate lending (preferably within the specialist lending space),
• Leadership – managing and developing a team of underwriters.
• Experience in product launches and growing lending books from a standing start would be desirable, but is not essential.
• Experience of working in a non–bank lender or smaller bank would be advantageous.
• Gravitas.
• Commerciality.
