Interim Group Financial Controller (Real Estate)

A very successful real estate investment & development business are seeking an interim Group Financial Controller for a 6-12 month contract.

This is integral role in the business with responsibility management of a team and for the accounting function and reporting lines to the CFO and COO, which will initially based in the office 4 days a week but may become a more flexible arrangement over time. The role will require travel to an office in the Cambridgeshire area.

Key components of the role include:

Financial Control & Corporate Accounting

• Leading and managing a finance team 4-5 people responsible for the statutory accounts (IFRS/UKGAAP), quarterly manager reporting, budgeting and property accounting for the firm.
• Report on performance and improving the quality of management information to assist with managing the individual businesses.
• Supporting the CFO in the production of reports and financial information and analysis for presentation to the CEO and board
• Deal with corporate tax and VAT matters
• Treasury and cash management
• Ensure regular management information and key performance indicators are prepared by the finance team
• Support the business to understand operational performance and be part of a team across the business that works to control costs and to enhance operational performance
• Responsible for taking full ownership, maintenance and management of accounting software.

Transactions

• Support the business to deliver property acquisitions, including developments and operational assets.
• Support with any entity structuring work with external advice.

People Management

• Manage the operational finance team of 4-5 people.
• Provide coaching to the direct report to grow responsibility, improve skills and increase autonomy within the team.

Requirements - Knowledge & Skills required:

• Must be a Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/ACMA/CPA)
• Have accounting experience within a real estate investment, development or property services sector (Prop Co, REIT)
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills (UKGAAP, IFRS)
• Experience of managing operational finance teams

Salary or Daily Rate: FTC £85,000-£110,000 / £500-£650 per day via umbrella depending on experience

Duration: 9 -12 months with potential to go permanent
