Description
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the business to devise efficient strategies for the provision of legal services that are fit for future growth of the business
- Provide expert, pragmatic, commercial and risk aware advice and support on issues for the whole Company focusing primarily on the Operations, People, and Finance teams and being seen as their trusted counsel;
- Proactively identify arising risk areas and work with key stakeholders across the business to develop and deliver risk mitigation solutions;
- Deputising for the General Counsel in her absence on an ad-hoc basis;
- Draft and negotiate contracts with suppliers and customers;
- Design, devise and deliver relevant legal training programmes;
- Developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders;
- Providing standard templates, and legal training on those templates, when required;
- Assisting with Company Secretarial matters;
- Promoting good governance and ensuring contracts are stored in the control portal;
- Managing complex transactions involving regulatory matters and multi-jurisdictional issues;
- Managing a varied workload to meet tight deadlines;
- Working with small teams across the business to provide legal advice and guidance for small business projects and bids;
- Consistently anticipate, provide timely evaluation, propose mitigation strategies for and advise management of potential risks in contractual, regulatory, revenue recognition, compliance, financial, intellectual property, employment, and legal areas;
- Mentoring other team members or other Company employees to assist their development;
- Promoting the Company's culture and assisting with its delivery and promoting risk management strategies across the Company;
- Working on ad-hoc matters as requested by the Legal Director
Profile
- Extensive In-house experience of negotiation, litigation, and general company/commercial law, and negotiating and drafting a wide range of complicated commercial contracts
- A good degree and legal qualification
- At least 2 years post qualification experience as a qualified lawyer
- Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work autonomously or as an excellent team player who can work with minimal supervision
- Evidence of being a self-starter who is good at identifying problems and proactively remedying them
- Ability to act with a high level of integrity, discretion and honesty and the ability to command respect
- Ensuring confidentiality in all matters
- Strong ability to work under pressure and meet demanding deadlines
- Ability to grasp complex situations, and get up to speed quickly and present considered advice as to how to resolve challenges that arise
- Evidence of commercial awareness
