Interim Environmental Advisor

HSE Recruitment are exclusively working with a leading utility provider on the recruitment of an Interim Environmental Advisor. This role will be based from the office site in Coventry but will be hybrid working, with a mix of one or two days in the office per week, and the rest on regional sites. Sites covered are West Midlands, East Midlands and North London and milage will be covered from head office to site plus any hotel stays if necessary. The role can be done by someone either 4 or 5 days a week, depending on preference/availability. As an Interim Environmental Advisor you will be responsible for reviewing management standards, and the suite of procedures in order to ensure they are compliant as well as leading on biodiversity ecology surveys, liaising with external consultants as well as company sites. You will receive and scope out all environment reports internally and communicate findings to the business. You will also lead on bio diversity workshops and get employee engagement, while providing a list of action points for the networks. You will manage and lead the environment risk analysis, and organise site visits for compliance audits (these are not a full iso 14001 internal audit but a level down from this). You will also be responsible for environmental incident reporting.The ideal candidate will have an environmental or ecological degree and will also hold a membership of IEMA or another similar membership body. You will ideally have worked within the environment agency, waste, utilities or similar, but we can rule in professionals who are used to working in hands on environmental positions that require site visits and inspections, such as in the construction industry. ISO 14001 audit experience would also be a plus. You will need to be very approachable, able to raise issues in a timely manner, able to work to tight deadlines, and be very comfortable speaking to and engaging with stakeholders.
