Head of Development – Phama, Healthcare, Life Science – cGBP100K + Package Flexible/Remote An excellent opportunity has arisen with an exciting Life Science organisation. We are recruiting for a Head of Development to develop and deliver a SaaS based Clinical Trials Management Platform (UCTMP) strategy. Lead the team responsible for the continual development and operation of the UCTMP and put in place and maintain optimal development, validation and operations processes and practices that meet regulatory requirements, facilitate short delivery lead times and result in a secure, robust, and trustworthy platform. This will be created with collaboration with an outsourced partner. Clinical Trials experience is beneficial, however experience within healthcare, pharma or a regulated industry such as financial services will be considered Role and Responsibilities: Develop the strategy for Unified Clinical Trials Management Platform. Work with the CIO and broader Senior Leadership Team to ensure alignment of the strategy with the overall strategy Build, manage, lead, and motivate an integrated, inclusive, and flexible team Establish, maintain, and operate platform development, validation, and operation approach and processes Lead the continued development and operation of Clinical Trials Management Platform ensuring that it meets business objectives and customer requirements Own and continually review relationships with key suppliers, including our platform development partner. Coordinate deployment, validation, configuration, and operation of Clinical Trials Management Platform in coordination with the Clinical Operations team. Ensure through collaborative working with the Head of Information Security and Head of Information Governance that security is at the heart of the platform Maintain currency on developments in relevant technologies, software delivery and team leadership approaches and develop strategies and implement changes as necessary. Ensure that disaster recovery and business continuity plans for UCTMP are in place, maintained and tested. Manage internal & external stakeholder relationships and report to stakeholders on technology investments. Contribute to the creation and development of a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments. Exercise cost control and manage expenditure to work within agreed operating budget ensure that services within the remit offer value for money. Undertake any other work that may be reasonably required from time to time. Undertake work in accordance with policies and values. Essential Skills and Experience: Broad technology competence with solid experience leading the development and operation complex cloud–based business applications in highly regulated environments e.g. Healthcare, Pharma or Financial Services. Significant experience in working with software development and platform configuration teams following agile and DevOps practices, Test–Driven Development (TDD) and / or Behaviour–Driven Development (BDD). Significant experience in leading teams and suppliers working to continuous deployment practices (feature flags, automated testing, ). Significant experience working with third–party and geographically distributed development teams. Experience of people management, either direct or matrix management as well as mentoring and developing individuals and teams. Experience working with development and operation of business applications / platforms used in the context of Clinical Trials is desirable. Able to work hands–on, with direct experience developing software development functions, putting in place practices, processes, and documentation, and evolving them within a growing organisation. Knowledge of TIR/45, FDA Guidance on Principles of Software Validation, NHS Digital Technology Assessment Criteria (DTAC) and / or NHS DCB0126 and DCB0160 desirable.Package: Circa GBP100K based Pension Healthcare Flexible hybrid model
