The CompanyWe are excited to be working with an established freight and courier company that specialises in e–commerce logistics. Operating across the UK & worldwide, with recent investment and plans to grow, this is an exciting time for the company and the senior operations team.The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Chief Revenue Officer / Commercial Director to add value to our clients growth plan by establishing a 5 year revenue strategy for the business. The successful applicant will also be responsible for trade marketing support and for the customer service function. Reporting into the CEO they will contribute to the broader management of the business as a member of the Senior Operating Board.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities
  • Understand the requirements of existing customers to ensure their needs are being met
  • Act to acquire new customers and manage client relationships, ensuring that client margins are optimised.
  • Collaborate with and coordinate diverse teams (sales, marketing, account management, customer services, operations etc.)
  • Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare verbal and written reports for the board of directors
  • Assist in setting financial targets and budget development and monitoring
  • Deliver or exceed budgeted revenue and gross profit
  • Responsible for the management of negotiation of pricing agreements with business partners
  • Represent the Commercial element of the Company within the Operating Board and to the external investor
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Director or CRO
  • Proven experience in sales and/ marketing and managing relationships with key clients
  • Previous experience/in–depth knowledge and understanding of the international freight /courier/parcel delivery industry
  • Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes
  • Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mind–set
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Good communication, collaboration, and delegation skills
  • C– suite level experience
The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mind–set and also be a creative strategist with excellent organisational abilities and great leadership skills. The goal is to promote and expand the company s commercial activity that will generate revenues and lead to sustainable growth.As an ideal candidate, you ll be a born leader with previous managerial and sales experience in the international courier/parcel delivery industry. You will be a confident communicator/presenter with the skills to lead and manage teams as well as influence strategy and liaise with the CEO, colleague Directors and external investor. You will also possess the commercial capability to manage a diverse contract base of customers and suppliers to maximise Company margin. A person capable of decisive and effective decision–making, in a time pressured environment.
