Newly created Head of Health, Safety and Environment – UK wide travel – GBP90K–100K + GBP7K car allowance, 25 days holiday + wider package
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Head of Health, Safety and Environment Manager within a very large UK organisation who are part of very successful global enterprise.
The organisation have steadily expanded over the past decade and over the past two years have been augmenting both their HSE and Sustainability functions. Due to this growth, the company are now looking to appoint a new Head of HSE for one of their largest business units. Reporting directly into the HSE Director for the wider business, this will be a strategic position but will also hold responsibility for operational delivery.
Working with both internal and external stakeholders, this is a modern, fast–paced business, where the Head of Health, Safety and Environment will enjoy autonomy and variety across their working week.
The successful Head of Health, Safety and Environment will be responsible for:
Delivering upon the wider group HSE strategy for the business unit and in time, feeding back into strategy with new initiatives and programmes for success.
Working closely with clients aligned with the business unit to ensure they are informed and that there is a strong relationship maintained
Working with internal and external stakeholders to improve the overall HSE performance and culture across the business unit.
Working across the UK ensuring a consistent approach on how operations are supported and audited
The management of two dedicated HSE professionals giving them clear direction and assisting in their professional development
Supporting the drive of a pro–active culture by actively supporting the operational leadership focussing on solutions and sharing good practice
Working closely with the wider HSE teams across the business in order to share best practice and priorities
Actively delivering an improvement programme by engaging with the operational teams and external stakeholders supporting them in the development and review of projects
Leading the implementation of improvement programmes across the business unit
Ensure buy–in from GMs and operational teams to support the effectiveness of the delivery
Ensure there are touch points at all levels to ensure appropriate communication and influence within the operational teams
Managing stakeholder expectations ensuring all activities are in line with improvement programmes and wider HSE strategy
Required Qualifications / Experience
The NEBOSH Diploma / a degree in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment or have an equivalent qualification
Ideally the individual will have experience working within an Engineering, Construction, Manufacturing, Logistics or similar process–led / industrial background
